Last year was huge for Macross/Robotech fans like myself... And it took me the longest time picking my favorite toy for last year, in one hand we got the finally redesign of the 1/60 line form Yamato, beautiful job of a toy, but also we got the Regult, a long awaited toy for us fans, the destroids, also beautiful toys, and we closed the year whit the perfect Beta from Toynami. Not to mention the flood of Mospeada Cyclones, WOW tough decision....!!!! I went Beta. Sure, the new Yamato 1/60 VF-1 is hot, but there are already other great VF-1 toys out there (the original 1/55!). The Tomahawk is nice, too...but I'm waiting for the olive drab one (or even the weathered version of that, if it's not too expensive). But at the end of the day, it's all about the Beta. The CM's version never appealed to me, regardless of its price. The Toynami ver is the Beta of my dreams...and I still pray every night for a retooling/reissuing of the Alpha... Oooh...I can't wait for the Macross Quarter to come out. Actually, I'd probably prefer the Battle Frontier (or Battle Galaxy) simply because they're bigger ships. I just finished watching Macross Frontier this weekend at Atom's insistence. It was a good move! -- This was probably the toughest poll with everything being a great release for the most part and the fact I bought most of them makes it tougher to pick just one. But going back to one of my favorite designs and seeing a great toy finally made of it I went with the Destroid Tomahawk. While had I known a weathered version was coming I would've waited (fool me twice Yamato, shame on me), it's still a great toy that hasn't really had a good representation outside of the elusive Conversion Kit. Had to say the regult, just because it's different. I don't collect Macross stuff though,so I'm just judging from pictures. I went with the Toynami Robotech Beta VFB-9H Rand Vol. 1 - SHOCK! My disgust with Toynami is well-known, but when a company does an amazing job for an amazing price, they 100% DESERVE to be praised. After handling one of the new 1/60's I'm impressed, but to me it's just too similar to the 1/48 for me to give it a vote in this category. Plus the price is WAY out of line. There is no reason why that toy can't be $75-80, especially given the years and years Yamato has been milking these designs. I am only voting on toys I've handled or seen in person, and I'm not running up the polls for toys i have no idea about- hense no votes for the Regult or Proto Garland. |

I was torn over the new Yamato 1/60 offerings- while I really like the Tomahawk, I was more nostalgic and desperately want that VF-1S Roy Focker version.
I also wanted to put my vote towards the Beta, but when I saw it available in another poll, I voted for it there instead.
