Please donate to the victims of Katrina

I'm sitting here in my office in Massachusetts, reading CNN coverage of the tragedy in the south. I am overwhelmed with grief? I feel so helpless. I have a stack of toys that need to be reviewed, but somehow it all seems so stupid right now. I just feel such an overpowering feeling of sadness.

If you're not directly involved, it's easy to distance yourself from tragedies like this.. Usually. But I just can't this time. I read about people at the superdome living in filth, the elderly and sick dying alone, and mothers handing their babies to strangers on buses in hopes that someone will take care of them.

What century is this? What country is this? How is this happening? Lawlessness is taken over, looting is rampant and now people are shooting at each other.

This is such a disaster. And there is nobody to blame this time. You can't drop a daisy cutter on Mother Nature.

I know a guy, an active poster on the forums named REX. Last we heard from him he was evacuating New Orleans before the storm hit. We haven't heard from him yet, but when your house disintegrates in 140 mph winds, your last concern is letting the toy nerds know that you are ok. (Update, he is ok, and his house relatively unscathed)

There's not much I can do from here, but send money. You can send money too. If you are like me, you don't think much of dropping a couple hundred dollars on a toy? How about instead of that next toy, send that cash to a relief fund to help the victims of Katrina? I mean, people are dying in the streets because they have nothing to eat, and we're buying $300 Japanese robot toys. How f*cked up is that? The world is bigger than us and our hobbies. Collectors by their nature are very self centered, but it's time to think of your fellow man.....

At this point I'm just distraught, and probably not making much sense. But visit one of these sites and make a donation, ok?
