Zagoran Tank Mini (SDCC 08 Exclusive)

Review by Shogundan
After reading Josh's Balbagon review, I just had to show our readers what gateway toy sucked me into the world of Kaiju vinyls.
I never really had much love for vinyls. I always thought they were overpriced kiddie toys. I was wrong! While Josh and I covered this year's San Diego Comic-Con, this vinyl caught my eye at the Gargamel booth......Behold! Gargamel's Zagoran mini tank vinyl!
So many things compelled me to get this piece. From its comical menacing grin to the fact that its a monster wearing a WW I German-inspired helmet while riding a tank! The German inspiration really struck a chord with me because of my German heritage and the fact that I'm a history buff.
Man, this thing just oozes cool! Upon further inspection, I realized that not only was it aesthetically cool but it also has some gimmicks. You can separate the top half of Zagoran from the tank and attach his legs, so its like 2 figures in one. That's not all! He has a waist joint, the turret moves on the tank and you can remove his helmet.
To conclude this, watch out! The vinyl bug can bite you when you least expect it. Heck, it got a hater like me appreciating the beauty of vinyl.

Hey Robotbastard,
I can totally see M26 Pershing, I was thinking more of a German Panzer III. Anyways I was referring more to the German inspired helmet.

I love it, Shogundan! Glad you got around to reviewing this guy--I know how much you love this lil dude!
These toys are a collaboration between Gargamel and Charactics. Charactics makes (among many other things) little, cute licensed Toho kaiju vehicles...and Gargamel wanted in with their take on Zagoran (and other pachi kaiju of theirs). Match made in heaven!
I still have my Zagoran tank from SDCC07. The tank is a larger version from Charactics in tan/red/black camo, and the Zagoran MCB ("Mischievous Crouching Bastard"...the skullbrain nickname for this particular Zagoran sculpt from Gargamel) is blue and silver. Killer toy!
They make planes, too. I'd love to see Charactics make an old WWII-style submarine and then maybe a space shuttle...to round out the vehicles!
Man, these are so much fun, even Nekrodave would crack a smile! ;)

Have you guys seen the tank being piloted by Mechagodzilla?

How cute! And really, really strange...
Oh yeah, dude--check out the Charactics link on Kaiju-Taro in my first comment above. Charactics has been at making these cool vehicles for a while now. They've had the Toho kaiju license for a while, so all the original ones feature Godzilla kaiju (Goji, MG, and Hedorah, I think).
Their more recent Zag vehicles are from a collaboration with Gargamel. I also like their Ghostland tank. Glowie!

Oh, silly me, I never even went to that link before. Just saw this guy on eBay while looking around. The different tanks are all pretty cool.
Speaking of "glowie", I've been meaning to say how jealous I am of your glow collection! The photos you have up are amazing. I'm yet to really get into vinyl myself, but I have a Cyclopus on the way and might go for that glowie Dokugan soon.
Haha...thanks for the kind words, man! Those pics are years old, though! I have so many more now...and others I've parted with. I just moved recently, so the Wall of Glow is still under reconstruction, but once it's been assembled, I'll be sure to update my collection pics!
Incidentally, Gareth, did you get my e-mail about the pink Marnon?

Heh, yeah, I figured the pics were kind of out-of-date. Impressive nonetheless. As for ones you've parted with, please tell me you still have that huge Hedorah...it's my favorite!
Yahoo is silly and considered that email spam, so I only just saw it, just responded.
One thing I can't believe I forgot to mention before: I also have Nor'easter Vegetius to look forward to in December! A great way to get into vinyl, no?
