Lagann

Review by Shogundan
Today I will be reviewing Konami's Impact Model series Lagann. Lagann is a small Gunmen that is piloted by the lead character Simon. In the Gurren Lagann anime, Lagann combines with the larger Gunmen Gurren to form Gurren Lagann.
When I came into possession of this piece I was not impressed with it's bare bones black cube packaging. The reason for my dismay is because after seeing Konami's Gurren Lagann die-cast, I felt this unassuming box was quite a departure. I was relieved when upon further inspection, I realized that the packaging was actually a window box with a flap covering what was inside.
As you can see from the photo's below, Lagann includes many accessories, such as a variant face, hands, drills and stand. Oh, lets not forget the highly detailed Simon figure.
I was really pleasantly surprised at the nice quality plastic used, its solid feel, and how nicely painted/detailed this figure is. Check it out!
Lagann stands about 6"-8" tall depending if you mount him on the included stand or not. Having 14 points of articulation makes this figure able to pull off some super cool poses.
Full drillized mode! Notice the cool variant scowling face. Looks killer!!
My personal favorite pose.
Removing the top hatch cover reveals the highly detailed cockpit for Simon to pilot Lagann. Simon is nicely detailed. He features articulation in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and waist. My only problem is that they didn't include articulation in Simon's legs.
Lagann and Simon Kicking back and relaxing.
Peek-A-Boo!
So, in conclusion... If you are a Gurren Lagann fan you will agree with me when I say.... This figure is FREAKIN AWESOME! Go out and get it! Unfortunately, its sold out most places and you may have to look on Yahoo Japan. Good Luck!!

I really like the way this toy looks, but getting one can be pretty difficult. (Big surprise there, right?) I hope/wish Konami would do a gokin version to match the Great Impact Gurren Lagann. Maybe include a fully articulated MMS Simon or something.
I have this one, and it's a great friggin' toy! They have been almost impossible to find for many months now, and I was lucky enough to score a decent priced one (read: not triple retail)on eBay. It's a must have for any fan of the show. I'm really surprised that Konami hasn't re-released it yet. There is certainly a demand for it.
This guy looks great... When will SOC do a release of Gurren Lagenn? That will be a great toy.

Technichally speaking, wouldn't Konami's Great Impact model count as the SOC?
Konami's Great Impact Model counts as Konami's Great Impact Model. It is a die-cast toy but it is not under the SoC name. The Great Impact Model looks cool, but it's too hard to find and sold at ridiculous prices. That's part of what the appeal of an SoC release would likely be; more widely-released, cheaper.
