The other stuff is cool, but I got a feeling that glow is gonna run away with this one.

Heh...yeah, I was apparently the second one who voted. The first person voted for clear (I'm guessing JoshB!). It's pretty obvious what I voted for: glow!

This is kind of a weird poll, though. The majority of these "gimmicks", I think, are geared more towards vinyl kaiju than action figures, robot toys, role-play toys, etc. I mean, sure "clear" robot toys are pretty damn sweet, but it just isn't a gimmick that's used much in the robot world compared to clear or translucent vinyl in the kaiju toy world.

The list included:
Diecast
Seamless transformation (i.e.; no parts left over)
Be modular with others like it
Magnetic action where feasible
Multiple, sturdy joints
Vintage styling (i.e.; funk - preferably kikaiju)
Spring-loaded missiles/fists
Glow in the dark
Stand-alone (i.e.; not a commercial tie-in to a comic, cartoon, or other property)
Translucent bits
Chrome bits

I think combining a little bit of all these things into a big DX toy would be amazing! Ah, to dream... ;)

Back in the 80's I would have said Glow for sure. I ruined a Storm Shadow figure with some glow-in-the-dark paint thinking a glowing ninja would look cool. not very stealthy i guess.
But with all the awesome clear figures out now, from vinyl SecretBase figures to Transformers, see-thru plastic is my biggest vice. i think i need an intervention.

My current shelf display is all clear G1 transformer knockoffs.

It's not an option, or even a gimmick really, but I have a particular liking of unpainted black figures.

Otherwise, on the list, I had to vote Glow. With clear being a close second option.
