Although I'm 200 miles away, the gas and time aren't worth it for me. Between Frank and Sons and the WWW, anything I want to buy is available anyway, and the chance for a lucky find isn't worth the time/expense of a road trip. I don't care to see what's there since it all gets covered anyway and the bandwagon phenomenon of Comic-con means there's way too many people there that aren't really that into it, they just want to buy exclusives to sell. 90 degree weather and unwashed comic book types aren't great either, and I've smelt it before at previous cons so it's no exaggeration. The only thing I'm interested in is Bandai and Toynami, but I expect you and others will provide enough coverage on what they (don't) show. I will sooo be there...It's my hometown, after all. This is good news. I will definately swing by, and Josh can sign my Tokyo Underground book. That I used in Tokyo! Woot! (Not to be a naysayer, but WOW Duke, way to be a buzzkill... But your complaints are valid, if they do seem a little bitter) Geek Prom, here we come. ----- SDCC sounds fun, like all conventions, but I'm with the rest of the economy; fuel prices alone are enough to choke my budget, but a plane ticket are to quote a Comic legend. "Nuff said." To those going. Have a blast guys! ------------------------- There should totally be an option for "I couldn't be bothered". I think even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend it on this, so I'm sort of with Duke on this one. That said, those of you who can't make it to the Summit should consider this for an alternative. Josh loves being accosted by strange people he's never seen before... ;) "This must be settled the way nature intended....with a vicious, bloody fight!" I would like to go a SDCC someday; just to say I've been to one, and also because it's like Mecca to collectors, modelers, and toy enthusiasts alike- you have to make the trip at least once in your lifetime because it is that profound. There's a brand-new Transformers con in Tacoma, WA in August I'm hoping I can attend, and there's a far-smaller get-to-know anime meeting nearby on Whidbey Island at the end of this month I'll probably be at. As you walk through the isles of comic-con, remember those of us in Ohio who'll have no opportunity to visit. Hate to spam with another comment, but hows about partying for those that cannot attend? here's a to do list: At the DC booth: Kneel before Zodd and recite the Green Lantern's Oath to recharge your power ring. Anybody want to add to this list go ahead! ------------------------- Hi, UPDATE - CollectionDX will be at Booth # ------------------------------ |
