How does it stack up against a 1/60 Yamato?

While it might not be in scale with the Revoltech Valkyries, how does it do against 1/60 offerings? In terms of what we might call "animation scale"--that is, the Battlepod is taller than the Valkyrie?

isn't DYRL a "movie" in the Macross universe, and that's why it's not cannon?

I 100% agree with GogDog here, acuracy to scale and cannon are not a main concern when I'm watching Macross. Fun is.

I've havn't watched DYRL in a long time, I think i'll check it out.

Well, here's a major problem

Well, here's a major problem with Macross: DYRL is not canon, even though half of the stuff that comes after it is based after it.

To be honest, I don't really care about the scale that much. I still enjoy the franchise jut watching it while eating popcorn.

And I got the impression that in DYRL, they had encountered the Zentradi just like in the series (they still mentioned the fold to Pluto, and I assume it was for the same reasons?), but the movie just didn't pick up UNTIL they reached Saturn.

 Hah-? He was smaller!?

Hah-? He was smaller!? But he put a big-ass dent in that Battroid-!

Though now that I think about it... In DYRL, when Max followed Milia (sp?) into the Meltrandi ship and they're in close-quarters, the Battroid and Queadluun-Rau were very similar in size. But I thought this was another animation error.

Perhaps... they reset some of the sizes for DYRL? Because in that continuity, humanity doesn't encounter the Zentradi until after the SDF-1 is at Saturn; not before like in the series. So maybe that's why soldiers are smaller that Battroids in the movie...

I got it from the Macross

I got it from the Macross Compendium. The way they draw the Zentradi in the original show is largely incorrect. It is not uncommon for animation in general to mess up scale for plot reasons or just for stylistic reasons. In DYRL they attempted to correct this as you can see Kamjin is smaller than Roy's VF-1S when he punches it.

where did you get this info?
could you share your source?

because just based on the TV series, Zentradi are constantly shown larger than that- you can see in several episodes when they hold the humans, as well as human objects, they are much bigger than that. It's not just the 2 leaders either, or only the "prisoners" episodes.

Not looking to get into a major debate, this isn't MacrossWorld. just want to know where you're getting the info from.

The average Zentradi is not

The average Zentradi is not the size of a Battroid. Average Zentradi height is 5 times the height of a man, which would be around 8 meters. A Battroid is 12.68 meters tall. Britai is one of the exceptions because he's the big man in charge.

Ehh... yeah it looks

Ehh... yeah it looks kick-ass, but I think its bark is worse than its bite; or rather, it's not very flexible.

I know its meant to be a long-range support Destroid 'n all, but depending on only two weapon types seems a bit restricting. All of its weapons use ammo, which means it runs out fast. (Gundam Heavyarms, anyone?) No energy-based or auto-cannons to back the big guns up.
Now, that's not to say other Destroids are any more flexible. The Defender uses only paired laser cannon turrets, and the Phalanx has only 22 missiles; but that's it. Those are worse than the Monster- they have only one weapon type. I would prefer the Tomahawk, which has a whole slew of guns 'n missiles all over it. The Spartan is also pretty cool, but it's designed also for melee-range/inner-city fights- which all of the others aren't.

As for me? I'm a missile Mech freak. Why? Cause if the bad guy get close enough to spit at you, you're dead. Plus, missiles are multi-role explosives that can chew up turf when need be, they are longer-range than bullets or grenades, and they are slow enough that- as the victim- you can see them comin' at ya, making for some nice psychological warfare right before ya get blown to atoms. (I especially like fire-and-forget missiles- while they're flyin', you're movin' on to the next victim.) Bullets might make small holes in something, and energy cannons are good for slicin' stuff up, but its missiles that'll chew bad guys up. Then you can go in and waste energy by laser-ing their corpse into tiny pieces.

But the moral of the story is, the less you have to depend on limited-ammo weapons, the better off you are.

You can tell I've played BattleTech-based video games a lot, huh?

BTW- little insider tip here: if you want to create a link, type this in-

(a href="")(/a )

-replacing all "( )" with the associated arrow-shaped brackets. (I can't show you specifically because, well, then CDX's program will activate it!) The only place you have a space is between the "a" and the "href". Then put the link address between the quote marks, and describing words between the two pointed brackets that face each other in the middle.

Example: ...here you go

Macross mecha scaling, Pt.II

Okay, things are a little closer now. Only thing I'd protest here is that both the Regult and Glaug are too short; same with the Zentradi soldier there. While the Zentradi is in correct scale to the Regult and Glaug next to him, all three are too small compared to everything else. Remember, the average height of a Zentradi soldier is the same as a Battroid, but here, he's shown as shorter than the Destroids!

(BTW, I double-checked this, and I was amazed to find that all of the Destroids are actually shorter than Battroids! I thought it was just the reverse- Destroids were supposed to be the size of Regults.)

At least the Monster still stands tall above the others.
