This podcast reminded me of that, as it seemed like 60+ minutes of summary and 10 minutes of analysis. There's so much going on in Macross, I guess it's kinda unavoidable.
Well, I kinda found a way to avoid it. I just just say "dude, you've got to see this" and let them borrow the first 4 or 6 episodes.
I guess most people here are relatively hard-core fans and have seen the whole series. However, I get the impression that many people who have seen Macross/Robotech's-Bread-Winner (usually non-anime fans or younger anime fans) have only seen the first six episodes. Is this common, or am I the only person who runs into these people?
Macross is really a simple love story. It's just that it is an anime with plot and development. Unlike say... Mospeada.

I grew up with the Robotech version, but want to see it in its original form just for completion's sake if nothing else.
Nice to know the price has gone way down on it so I can.
And just because it was requested I sent in my contest submission a few minutes ago, in handy comic book form!
Mospeada had plot and development. You just had to sit through 10 stand-alone episodes that focused on a single character or guest character before the plot advanced. Actually, there might have been only 6 episodes that moved along the plot, 3 of them being the last 3 episodes. What do you expect for a TV show that focuses on a really long walk?
I actually liked mospeada. Yeah, it was old-school episodic storytelling. Yeah, the plot is very simple and doesn't advance much. They really went into alot of depth with each character's backstory though. I really liked the transforming motorcycles. Perhaps I played the old Palladium Robotech-RPG too much. oh, well.
