The Mummy
Some my earliest and fondest memories were of watching 8mm versions of Universal Monster movies projected on my bedroom wall when I was a kid and my favorite then and now was the 1932 film "The Mummy". So for this reason Sideshow's 8" figure of the character is somewhat bittersweet for me. Though it's a nice toy, unlike just about every other one in the series, it seems to be somewhat inaccurate. The right arm is designed to curl up against the torso, which is more suggestive of the mummy "Kharis" from the inferior sequels than of "Im-Ho-Tep", the original mummy portrayed by Boris Karloff. It's Karloff's likeness on this toy and that is again captured perfectly. The toy does come with some nice accessories including a stand adorned with various rocks with Egyptian heiroglyphics on them. A separate stone tablet, the scroll of Thoth and the casket to keep it in are also included. You can place the scroll in the hand of the toy or display it unfurled as well. The Mummy came packaged on a blister card and also came in a black and white, Silver Screen Edition as well as a glow in the dark version. Submitted by NekroDave on 30 November, 2005 - 12:43. |
