Only the Earth Federation mobile suits built for Mr. Bushido (theGN Flag, Masurao, and Susanowo) could do it, and that was developed independently of all Celestial Being mobile suits who originated the Trans-Am System.
So where this repaint comes from, I have no idea.
O_o?
There were many Federation/A-Laws mobile suits (Gazzaro, Reborns Gundam,Gadessa) that were able to use Trans-Am towards the end of the second season of 00. I don't remember whether the GN-X IV ever used Trans-Am in the 00 movie(I don't remember much of anything from that movie for that matter), but considering the time difference between the second season and movie, I think it's safe to assume any mobile suits developed since then would be able to use Trans-Am.
Well, I differentiate Garazzo, Gadessa and Rebbons Gundam as Innovator faction, not Federation since they DID use Trans-Am and were used exclusively by them even if they still had GN Drive Tau. The GN-X series was unquestionably Federation tech.
Regardless, I don't recall any GN-X [I, II, IV] going Trans-Am in the series. (I haven't seen the movie yet, so they may have there and I'm not aware of it.)
How can you recall GN-XIV never having Trans-Am state if you haven't even watch the movie yet? You probably mixed it up with GN-XIII, this version of GN-X only appeared on the movie. It's the ESF new machine, competing with the transformable Brave. Both can do Trans-Am.
Without spoiling the story much, one named character and bunch of nameless pilots goes into Trans-Am, ramming one huge ELS and intentionally overload their machines to destroy that ELS, kamikaze style.
*gasp*
The IV is from the movie? Oh, I'm sorry! My mistake then. Complaint retracted.
