Ingram from Live Action Patlabor Updated
There's been much buzz about the upcoming live action Patlabor movie that is set for release sometime in 2014. New photos have emerged of a full sized Ingram prop seen doing what Ingrams do best: get carted around on the back of a truck! The overall design seems to be a tasteful update of the this classic mecha. The official site for this movie is here!
It's a far cry from the old live action Patlabor trailer from back in 1998.
Updated with new promotional pics!

I added a few more pictures.
Look at the size of that crotch winch... O_o
They better put this into some kind of public museum when they're done filming. 1:1 scale anime robots are rare indeed.
1:1 Anime robots are pretty darn cool. It's not every day you'd see one
I'm pumped to see this, even though I'm not a Patlabor fan.
I like the labor and patlabor designs, but I reserve judgment on whether I'm a fan because I've never seen the show, only the first two movies [years apart].
I only saw the first movie, but it was around when I was 12. But I do want to see this as a film
The other reason that I don't want to be too harsh on this design is that there is literally so much animated Patlabor that it's not like it really takes away anything from the original.
Yeah, I actaully like both designs, but you have a point there's a lot of Patlabor Anime so It doesn't really deviate too much
I'm not a Patlabor fan, but this looks AWESOME
I heard that a Gaiking film is being in production and if I remember correctly, I heard they're making it 1:1 scale like this beauty. These two things I cannot wait to see ^.^
I don't like it.
Rather, I don't like it but I don't have a particularly compelling argument. The angularity may be more realistic, but it really breaks up what made the Ingram such a gorgeous design. This version reminds me of something you might find on Pixiv. Also DAT CHIN. You might as well put lips on Optimus Prime.
I will say though, that if this turns out to be Ingram Unit 2 I'd be a little less critical.
Anyway, I'm still tentatively interested in the movie. Patlabor should adapt to to a live-action setting a lot easier than some other robot anime, and at the very least, it's impossible that they could do worse than WXIII.
Think this prop has a built-in retractable cockpit cover and moving seat?
If it didn't it would be...
*puts on sunglasses*
...criminal.
Like most live action anime based films, this movie will probably suck eggs. But if nothing else, at least there's going to be some cool merch and other worldly images of giant mechs to enjoy.
I am very happy a live action movie, it's a dream come true. I just hope this is good. This best not turn out to be a fake.
So far the robot is looking sweet and that's a good start. Roll on 2014
That is about as perfect a "real" rendition as you could expect. These are not hero robots they are tools, cop cars, it's hard not to be happy with this compared to what the new Gatchaman live action looks like.
thats what all giant robots need, dick winch!
I did not notice that till now! XD
Must be a favorite kind of wench that all the lady-bot's dig if ya' know what I mean XD
once you see it, you can never un-see it!
ROFL
im pumped for this. there's godzilla, now there's this. im going to love 2014.
