Yamato 1/60 scale VF-4G Final Prototype Pics

Source: Yamato's homepage

Yamato has released final prototype pictures for their upcoming VF-4G Lighting III from the game Macross Digital Mission VF-X. While this is the same craft seen in the 1987 OVA Macross Flashback 2012, licensing issues means it will be colored as the Valkyrie appeared in the 1997 video game.

Final details and a price will be announced at Summer Wonderfest 2012. Right now Yamato is taking non-binding preorders for customers in Japan at their website. This is a web exclusive item so foreign buyers will have to use a middleman service.

Perfect

This would be a perfect product for an assembly kit but at this point it feels like wishful thinking.

Question. I know that even

Question. I know that even though it appeared in Macross Flashpack 2012 and that it didn't transform, was the battleroid designed for it still at that time? I ask because it seems like a bit of a departure for the VF series at the time until the 90's.

Variables

I believe it was in the pre-production sketches--they might not had enough budget value to animate the transformation to see them in action. But technically, that's the VF-4 Lightning III that was seen in the ending of the movie. The VF-4G which this upcoming toy is based appeared in the VF-X digital game.
