Musical from the Black Lagoon

I heard about this last year, but completely forgot about it. Perhaps I'd hoped it was nothing more than a bad dream. But unfortunately, it's real and it's happening.

The debut of "Creature From The Black Lagoon- A Ragin' Rockin' Show!" is set for July 1. Yes, a musical version of the Creature From The Black Lagoon. A "hip, musical stage adaptation". God help us all..

Evidently, in this version, the Gill Man is 25 feet tall, has long, flowing hair and can sing underwater.

So, whatever franchise you love that's been ruined by a horrible Hollywood movie, just be thankful they didn't do this to it.

I hope someone gets some

I hope someone gets some video online, since I doubt I'll ever be at Universal.
As far as purists being offended,I love CFTBL too,but you've gotta have a sense of humor.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm offended by this. Or if I am, the only thing that offends me is that for year..YEARS... there was talk of a Creature re-make but it could never get off the ground. But for some reason a musical gets green-lighted and produced pretty quickly. I don't get it. And a 25ft Creature? I really don't like that.

But if someone wanted to buy me tickets and fly me out to see it, I'd go. I'd go if it came to Boston. A buddy of mine is a major Creature fanatic and I think he's gonna go so I look forward to his thoughts on it.

^ I get the impression it's just one of those stage shows at the Universal theme park, not an actual musical that would go on tour.

Are you saying you're upset they never did the remake? Everything I had heard about it just made it seem like it would be terrible, and the Mummy didn't really inspire confidance in Universal monster remakes for me.

I certainly was interested

I certainly was interested in seeing what they did with it, yeah. I can't stand those new Mummy movies, but most other Universal remakes I've been ok with. From Frankenstein to Jekyll and Hyde and Dracula.. Hell, I even remember liking Memoirs of an Invisible Man! The new Wolf Man looks like it might have promise too. So I think the Mummy was an exception. (Van Helsing never happened....). Oh, the Argento Phantom was among the worst movies ever, too..

25ft Creature

Y'know.. although I don't approve of a 25ft Creature, evidently the Japanese picture him even bigger than that...

Looks more like the Creature

Looks more like the Creature to me. And I don't see Ragon's name written anywhere. I'm gonna go with giant Gill Man still.

I'm 99% sure that's not supposed to be Ragon.
On a side note,I absolutely hate Ragon after playing that SD sidescroller Ultraman arcade game.
