HGUC NZ-999 Neo Zeong from Gundam Unicorn Updated

Because the depths of Japan's love for the Sinanju knows no bounds, Full Frontal's personal use Mobile Suit is getting a massive upgrade in the form of the gigantic NZ-999 Neo Zeong! This humongous Mobile Armor actually fits around the Sinanju and turns the normal sized MS into a floating space fortress. Bandai is going to make a 1/144th scale High Grade Universal Century model kit of this beast! It will be about 86 centimeters tall once built and will easily rival the old HGUC Dendrobium. Coming July 2014 for 25,000 yen.

For comparison, the HGUC

For comparison, the HGUC Dendrobium which is around the same size cost 28,000 yen. That kit came out 12 years ago too.

No Link to mine?

No link to my Dendrobium review or the gallery?Shame.
I know, too wordy and not enough Dendrobium pictures. What do you expect for a 10 year old review from a guy who figured out how to improperly manipulate run-on sentences and take more pictures?

I added more: http://collectiondx.com/gallery/v/Toys/Bandai/Models/0083/Dendrobium/

I joke, but having built the Dendrobium, I'm a little surprised by this reveal. Excited, but surprised.
Bandai's been hesitant to really expand on Mobile Armors outside of the 1/400 and 1/550 scale. but I guess since UC's been such a glorious challenge for them they want to end it on a high note... and by that I mean cash in on a high dollar item that isn't a chrome plated Unicorn Gundam.

We'll just have to wait and see how this shapes up.

...on one other hand, I guess this means no "Version KA" Master Grade or a Perfect Grade for the end of this year.

This thing is such a lame

This thing is such a lame kit-bash, it's painfully obvious what parts were used in it-

Alpha-Azieru
Apsalus III
Val Varo
Dooben Wolf
Dom Troupen
Sinanju

The only part I can't figure out (due to poor resolution) is those four backpack thingies.

Probably

Those are probably either missile containers or just added boosters. OR for more dramatic Cyber-Newtype Effect are giant funnel containers or are just giant funnels themselves.

overall, I think the whole 'kitbash' concept is why it looks the way it does. In the UC OAV they've made several mentions of how the Neo-Zeon fleet is using as much gathered, leftover, technology as they have. Its why you see Mobile Suits from the One Year War, Gryps/Neo-Zeon Era, and even Operation Stardust.

In the third episode they mentioned how the NZ-666 was constructed using obsolete Psycommu technology that was taken from other suits.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they say "this was built using the parts from the Alpha Azieru and the Neue Ziel."

The propellant thrusters and chest section Particle cannon emitters are perfect matches to those two Armors.

Making it look like a giant Zeong is all about the psychological warfare of making the Feddies think that Full Frontal is really (but not) Char Aznable.

I'm just curious to see how Bandai plans to pull this off. Naturally it's going to have a one and a half foot tall display base which can be adjusted to hold this thing with/without its tank thrusters.

They're shift to just using PS plastic without ABS parts might solve the weight issues without having to use metal plates like the GP-03. I'm guessing the first thing about this kit will be it uses as few parts as they possibly can by making larger assemblies easier: long whole/half sections for the propellant tanks, a big plate for the bottom side of the armor, and duplicate assemblies for the arms and those 'whatever they are' boosters on the back.

No question Bandai will get away with recycling the existing HGUC Sinanju for it like they did with the GP-03 Stamen.

It has more arms but it still doesn't have any legs!

Wow. I guess I'm right about some of my speculations. It looks like it will have a spine (Point 6 on that poster) to keep it balanced, not sure if it'll be made of metal like I thought just yet. But I can see I'm wrong about those.. ARMS on its back (instead of Funnel containers) but why no hands? It looks like they're jointed into the shoulder. "Six Arm" technique maybe?

I can tell it's a matte painted prototype but if this reflects the unpainted plastic, then color me impressed! Aside from the panel lining, I'm guessing the hardest part about detailing this model is still the Sinanju's gold scrolling.

Dreaming on...

So... I don't suppose they could radically change the ending of Unicorn and have the title suit show up in a refitted Dendrobium Orchis just to have the most awesome Gundam fight in history?

The Gundam Project suits just vanished within the continuity; I mean I know it's because 0083 came out after Zeta, but you'd think that some of the newer anime projects could include something like a mass-production Zephyranthes. Which I guess the S and the EX-S are in a way.

Redacted

The ending of 0083 tied up that lose end with a written statement of "all data relating to the Gundam Development Project has been sealed" to cover up the damage of Operation Stardust.

The Gundams were all destroyed save the GP-03 Stamen getting out slightly scarred, but the Dendrobium was totaled.

Even though it was a prequel/sequel-in-production-time from Zeta, Sunrise did come back about the GM Cannon II and GM Customs showing up as AEUG Suits in the Zeta movies.

The S and EX-S were something entirely different from the GP-01 and more like a 'real type' follow up to the ZZ Gundam.

As for the Unicorn ending, and a battle between this thing and the RX-0, there are animation frames showing the Sinanju grappling with the Gundam while it is still docked with the Zeong.
