49 comments postedYou know, this should seem totally lame, as a way to sell more Mazingers, but the idea of a slightly more affordable and all roughly the same size line is pretty intriguing. That and, I take one look at that Great Maz and get a little faint :P I'll be real curious to see these.

when will bio robo, dekaranger robo, magiking, daibouken will come out in this line... considering that shinken-oh and san vulcan robo will be there?
IT'S BLOODY ST CHOGOKIN!
Also, Reideen the Superior Reideen is just plain awesome to finally have, and also Dendoh! Cool beans.
No more Mazingers from crying out loud. Why don't people think and start with something that lacks a good toy, like RahXephon???
If you do not like the Mazingers, don't buy them.

OMG- re-molded, pre-assembled/-painted action figures of Super Sentai mecha!? How awesome; we were just talking about that for the SOC and Revoltech lines a few days ago! It's nice that they chose to include a pre-PR-era mecha in there (Sun Vulcan Robo), but I'm kinda scratching my head over the choice of using the Shinken-Oh for the debut line (which needs to exploit it's triple-changing components to be fully utilized IMO).
So, none of these will be transformable? Why include Super Sentai Series mecha then?

the the shfiguarts line or the shouhaku henshin line, you are gonna get all variations of shinken-oh. I remember how many remolds of faiz, hibiki, kiva, agito and kuuga... looks like the case here
What gets me interested is the "Now Planning" pic.
A new base? ST size? Sounds cool.
Oh man, if that ever sees the light of day, I'm getting me TWO of them!!!

With the average SoC running between $100-$200 these days, something needed to be done to offer a line of die cast joy without being overly complex and 8" tall. While I enjoy splurging on the pricey SoC if it's something I really have a fondness for, my days of collecting them just to have a nice set of robots ended around the time of God Mars.
This way I can be a little less restrictive on what I get, and I'm sure it lets Bandai try to make toys of some more obscure characters without worrying they won't sell enough to cover the massive cost to R&D something like a Daitarn 3 only for the few that want to drop $200+ on it.
I just hope that SoC continues for those that still want a big DX style piece.
I agree. The SOC line should continue with the more complex robots, such as Dairugger XV, Golion, Dai Guard, Daltanias and other combiners. People don't seem to mind paying top dollar for well made toys, so that should not stop Bandai from fully continuing their SOC line.

I dream with the day Bandai announces an Albegas (Voltron II) release, also a GoLion could be great as the Toynami Masterpiece doesn't seem to be as poseable as SOC releases (of the latest years).
Could this be the "Mazinger Revoltech" series we've all been begging for?
This is really exciting, and my imagination is already going into overdrive at what else could be coming down the line. I'm guessing that at that pricing, metal content is going to be extremely low. My prediction is feet and weapons, something like the Super Invisible Chogokin line. For something like this though, metal isn't really a top priority for me. This looks like Super Robot Damashii to me, and that's enough to get me to open my wallet. And hey, look! The Mazinger accessory set isn't a web exclusive!
The world has gone without a diecast Dendoh long enough.
Great is a BUY! I just love it and Maz and Dendoh too
...hmm they almost look sort of Revoltech'ish or maybe robot spirit'ish. Please Bandai no more Mazingers...dammit
I do want that Altesien and probably Reideen.
Yet another hater... geez!

Im not hating on Maz, i love him, but damn, where is Grendizer, where are some of the other obscure robots. They could start with the Getters, maybe even a Dancouga. Just named off the top of my head nothing in particular, but I would go bonkers for a Getter G :D
once the line solidifies, then we start talking about getters, not that getters won't sell money but mazingers bring money easily as they are far more recognizable.
Gear Fighter Dendoh and Ogre, Reideen and Sentai? The drool is shorting out my keyboard even as I type.
As a fairly new collector of Chogokin, I'm really excited for this. I realize a lot of you old timers are tired of Mazingers but since I missed out on a lot of the early SOC's and can't really afford them now I'm happy to have a chance to get these Mazingers.
That said I do hope they expand the line. I'd really like to see the Getter-G Robots and I love that they are doing Sentai.
Does it say anywhere on there how much die-cast content there is going to be, and can anyone point me to where I can find more info on "Bandai's Tamashii Stands"
Anyway can't wait!
These are the best renditions of Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger ever made! The Dendoh and Ogre are just too cool! Now all we need is Grendizer, Koutetsu Jeeg, and all the Getters.
All of the Mazinger haters out there, take a chill pill. It is the Super Robot that sells the best in the entire world - only rivaled by Grendizer (Europe). Without Mazinger, there may not have ever been a Chogokin line of toys.
Besides, if you don't think these Mazins look excellent, you are not right in the head.
}D
young kids love the mazingers from playing super robot taisen, so you gotta give 'em something right? thank god, that i am not the only one who wishes for more mazingers
so we see that the Sentai Robos are in this toyline, really looking for more, after the release of Shinken-Oh and Sunvulcan Robo..
"henshin!"
"transform and roll out"
so what's your choices in the future part of this line?
I'd like to see... Gekitohja, Seikuu-Oh, Magiking, Galaxy Mega, RV Robo...
"henshin!"
"transform and roll out"
same here, bring on the Sentai robots. Im really excited about this line. I'll probably even buy a Mazinger :D
go buy one dude, while it's cheaper than the SOC version haha :D
"henshin!"
"transform and roll out"
affordable chogokin?!
i'm all for it!
hope they release soulgain after cybuster though
Will they make a bigger version? I will stick on the bigger scale and will not mind spending money for as long it is well engineered. I am more into size, transformation, and metal content. But its a good news tho. Having this line will surely open the window for more collectors...
Can anyone explain the whole Gold/silver fist maz. Is that from some manga or something. I seen it on the another toy, but wasnt really sure where that was from.
That was taken from the episode 54 of the 1970's Mazinger series. Except there was only one rocket punch, not two...
}D
The Mazinger Z Super Atomic Punch is an acessory which was used only once in the anime. It is used in episode #54 where Mazinger Z is confronted by a three-headed kikaiju in the form of a turtle. Its shell was so hard that the normal atomic punch was useless against it and so Dr. Yumi came up with the idea of having a super atomic punch which was used to attack the underside of the kikaju - its weak point - and obviously destroy it.
One minor correction... the "Atomic Punch" is Great Mazinger's version. Mazinger Z's is actually called "Rocket Punch".
}D
Ahh ok, I only seen probably the first 15 episodes of the original Maz series. Very cool, thanks for the info.
I agree fully. And so it should read Super Rocket Punch!
I will buy only the classic robots like Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer etc. I also like the smooth joints (unlike the ugly Revoltech joints) on these robots. No sentai robots for me, definitely. Long live Mazinger Z - the grand father of the giant mecha. As for Koutetsu Jeeg, I think we'll keep on dreaming as TAKARA has no intention of leaving their rights to other manufacturers (although they did share them with KAIYODO and WEST KENJI).
Hi all,
I am most excited about the planned Photon lab base. Seems it will have a working elevator like the SOC Secret Base.
cheers,
70's Super Robot fan
Looks kick ass! I'm hoping the build quality comes through. Sculpts from these promo pics look great.
Hopefully Raideen won't be too far behind! Anybody heard about metal content?
Send Lawyers Guns and Money...
While I truly wish you were correct, I really doubt there will be that much metal in a $35 dollar figure. Don't be fooled by the "black chrome" effect, it can easily be applied to plastic parts as well.
}D
There goes my wallet...
These look great, and the price and size work for me. I read somewhere that the plan is to make this line include bases and battleships and accessories for diorama style play. I'm all for it!

"Hey, uh...let's volt in."
I can't wait for next August! I want a high quality Grendizer!
Grendizer would be sweet indeed. They could sell all the Spacers as a weapons pack to keep the cost down. I don't really mind the weapons pack idea. It allows buyers to purchase it only if they want it, or buy multiples. In Mazinger Z's case, it allows for and updated weapons/Scrander/Jet Pilder pack to be sold at a later date without having to buy a whole new figure. The same would apply to Great Mazinger, the Gear Fighter Dendoh & Ogre, and even Grendizer if they make one. It just gives the buyer more choices...
}D
the line looks great and the price most afordable. Talking about Grendizer, got hold of the metal-tech version for 50$ Nice figure but disappointed with the metal content, mabe these guy have the same amout, very little
Sorry to drag up and old thread but does anyone know what happened to the Sun Vulcan, Cybuster, Daizengar, and Aussenseiter that we saw when this line was announced? Just curious.
Hmmm...
MazingerZ > Great Mazinger > Altesien...lol
What the hech are those lineups?
And future lineups will be...
Raideen> Yusha Reideen> Sunvulcan> Shinken-oh> Cybuster
I'm super wondering, Bandai wants to sell the line...to who? Game players, like SRW? I don't think they are mainstream of toy maniacs. They just like to "eat up ", they don't cultivate.
