Bluefin Tamashii has given us information about the stateside release:

After seeing Godzilla...

After seeing this film, I'd buy this guy, but I have a far greater desire to have figures of his two enemies. Seeing the movie you'll understand why as the film makes them the main stars.

The price for this guy seems fair. I'm really hating these $90+ Monsterarts.

Here's a bigger image of the Godzilla figure:

Also, seeing those forearms, the closer they move to the wrist/hand, the skinnier they get. That looks wrong and doesn't match up to the actual movie model. The other toys from Jakks, Neca, and Bandai America do get the forearm to wrist/hand thickness correct. Everything else looks perfect though, so I wonder if the wrist/hands issue is due to the possibility of interchangeable hands.

As far a detail goes, this appears to be the most intricately detailed figure of Godzilla 2014 to date. It has FAR greater detail for skin texture and spines than neca's two figures

Seconded

I saw the movie last night too, and I was pleased. I would honestly compare it between the 1954 film and Edwards' previous film "Monsters."

Looking at the King of the Monster himself, I was more than happy with his design.

I picked up the NECA 12" figure last night too, and I have to say it's not a bad figure. It is just typical "NECA Stiff" but not immobile. The articulation is comparable to the Monsterarts figures, but I wouldn't mind seeing Bandai's take.

It really looks like Bandai's going for a more hybrid style with the classic Godzilla design, note the length of the toes, and the obvious "leaner" look.

The toes are based on

The toes are based on elephant's feet. He uses them to dig into the ground, so he can hold his body in place while thrashing enemies about.

The Director's approach to designing the monsters involves basically taking parts from different sources and blending them all together to make something new.

Godzilla's body overall is the shape of a bear standing upright on two legs. His hands, whip-like tail, and skin texture is bases on that of alligators/crocodiles. He has gills on the sides of his neck that are well hidden as scales. His thick legs and short toes are based on an elephant's. His eyes are from an eagle.

The enemy monsters take from both real and fictional creatures. This includes giant fruit bats, great white sharks, the queen alien, gorillas, horses, dolphins, mothra, gigan, pacific rim's leatherback, Starship Trooper's warrior bug, and the cloverfield beast. There's probably a few other influences I'm forgetting about.

Okay so I did some reading

Okay so I did some reading and Tamashii Nations says that the wrists/forearms look the way they do because if you look in between the hand and the forearm, you will see a joint that has actual sculpted detail. This will serve as a ball joint so he has ball jointed wrist articulation.
