Master Grade RX-78-2 Gundam Version 3.0

Bandai has just released details and CGI renders of their new upcoming Master Grade of the iconic RX-78-2 Gundam! This time it's version 3.0! There have been several Master Grade models of the original Gundam before, but this one boasts the new "Movable Armor System" that aims to improve the flexibility of a Master Grade Gundam even more. Also this rendition of the RX-78-2 is quite clearly styled after the life-sized statue on display in Odaiba. This model will cost 4,500 yen MSRP and is set to be released in August 2013.

OOOOH

So much for a "Version Ka. Sazabi" just yet. but impressive. Was still expecting the next RX-78 to be the "Origin" model though...

Looking over the CG, it's definitely based on the 1/1 statue and the Real Grade model. The pictures imply it uses the MP-1 manipulator parts from the "Version Ka" Nu Gundam and looks to have the same multicolored layers of white armor on the surface. Under the hood I can see the gold plating on the elbow joint to recreate the Magnetic Coating but this may just be decals like in the Real Grade kits. The leg looks like it has the double-jointed piston articulated knee, but I think that shot holding the bazooka shows that there will be a new type of pectoral joint to bring the arms further around front.

From the look of the RX-78-2 design from the bottom up I'm guessing it bridges the different iterations of the Suit from the Version 1, Version OYW, and the Version 2 kits. The head looks more striking and sharp compared to the others, more elongated in the face somewhat.

I'm reading too much into this just by looking at a cgi model, but we'll see come Shizuka!
