Hmm...unsure about that other monster design.
Also Big G's legs look a bit weird. Especially his feet

Long live the king!

I'm still as excited about this as much as I was without knowing what Goji's going to look like. Bandai gets points for making a more market friendly assortment of toys for the US again, and Jakks gets points for size.

However, I think NECA really wins the collector's award for their 24" figure. I'm glad to see they learned from Pacific Rim and went with a size of 'head-to-tail' rather than ankle to head height.

If that's what their figure looks like, I'm curious to see what Bandai's SH Monsterarts is going to look like!

Adding up the costs, if the monster-arts clocks in at $90 or more, you can get all 3 current NECA Godzilla figures offerings combined for less than that (about $87). Yeeeeeeaaah...

Hopefully Bandai doesn't charge a ridiculous price for it, other wise I'll wait for an Amazon sale or Mandarake deal.

The legs and feet are based

The legs and feet are based on that of an elephant's so he can dig his toes into the ground and get a good grip to hold his body weight in one place for when he smacks fools and whips bitches with his tail. He will be facing monsters of both sexes in this film, and I don't mean human. The tail gets thinner and thinner because it is like a whip that he lashes and cuts enemies with. He also has gills built into his scales on the sides of his neck for aquatic travel. His overall body structure, head, and snout are based on that of a bear. He also fights and moves like a bear on it's hind legs. The scales and jointing on the limbs are based on that of a gator or croc. I love what they've done with him and I'm glad they ditched the Japanese design's tendency of making his snout and nostrils look like that of a dog, cat, or lion. He makes me think of a live action Hanna-Barbara Godzilla.

Got Mine at TRU Already

Picked up what was the only available Jakks Pacific version in the Twin Cities metro area at one of our local TRU stores today. I reserved it online and when I went to pick it up, I discovered the box was damaged on one side. Something or someone had punched a hole through the cardboard.

Fortunately, the toy isn't damaged but I am disappointed that the box is damaged beyond normal shelf wear. May hold onto it until I can exchange it for a clean box. But, I may just open this up because I am excited about the scale. Seeing it in person, I really wish I had held onto my 70's Godzilla(the one with the lever action flame tongue) that I had as a kid for comparison. I remember selling it for pennies at a garage sale, when my mom told me to get rid of some of my toys....

Just sitting in the box with the tail unattached, this Godzilla is already 24" tall. The plastic mold reminds me of the 70's Godzilla toy in a retro sort of way.

I hope they make Godzilla's adversary at the same scale so they can battle.....
