Sadly, this design doesn't make an appearance in either the SOC or Spec line, and Bandai doesn't seem intent on releasing new Eva figures in either line. This, and the really old Kaiyado are the only options. While I'm not too fond of the old revoltech Eva designs, which I felt had the revoltech joints break up the sculpt far too much, I'll gladly pick this up with no other release of this design in sight. Also, since it is still using the old tv version sculpt, I doubt they will be making an appearance in the new movie.
No, this just feels like an updated reissue of the original Revoltech figures. The torso, head, hips, hands, and wings are identical to the one I have. New parts are the multiple heads, battle damage, and a refined Lance of Longinus. Undoubtedly they're just trying to make off on this old mold because of all their newer Rebuild designs. (Can't say I blame them, I want this even though I have one of the original releases!)
There's still no indication or word from either Khara or Anno at this time that the MP EVAs will return for "Evangelion: 3.0" and "...Final".
Well at least I can get the sword more easily this time.
I second that.
The original Revoltech MP EVA came in two breeds- one with wings, and one with weapons- and you had to decide on either one or the other, or sink money into both. But it looks like they just added the battle bits and a new mouth here. Otherwise this looks like a mish-mash of the original release(s)... which is fine by me and is how it should have been done back then to begin with.
I wouldn't mind getting one of these too.
If the Mass Production series does show up in the Rebuild movies, then it seems likely we'll end up with a Robot Spirits.
Well, considering how the radically-redesigned Unit-05 and Mark.06 have taken the place of at least two of the MP EVAs, it's possible that the MPs may not appear like this in Rebuild (if at all). Though Rebuild is sticking fairly close to the TV series, and has hints of EoE, we must remember that before "1.0" came out, Anno and Khara stated that "Final" would have a completely different conclusion than we have seen before.
Speculation can go either way and only so far (until 2013), but I have to wonder if the MP EVAs will be anything near identical- save for decorations- in appearance or function in "Evangelion: Final"; if a Mass Production EVA Unit concept is even used for that matter...?
(anyone remember that?)
From the old Jurassic Park figures, right?
You just won a prize.
