SUPER SHOGUN EARLY BIRD ENDING! (3-17-10)

The countdown to the end of the Early Bird discounts has begun at STARWARS.SUPER7STORE.COM. This is the final week for collectors to preorder Super7 s Star Wars Stormtrooper Super Shogun and qualify for the following benefits:

  • FREE SHIPPING of the mammoth toy - a $30 savings! (This offer applies to continental US only.)
  • An exclusive EARLY BIRD commemorative certificate
  • Guaranteed to receive the STORMTROOPER SUPER SHOGUN itself before any other customer

The Early Bird special is inspired by the original Christmas 1977 preorder event in which fans were treated to a certificate while they waited for the first-ever Star Wars figures to arrive. Super7 s Early Bird program concludes at 12:00am Midnight PST next Wednesday, March 17th. The retail price of this highly anticipated, limited-edition collectible is $299, and will be released on Saturday May 29th just in time for the 30th anniversary of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back!

The Star Wars Stormtrooper Super Shogun stands a whopping 24 inches tall, and includes all of the features that you expect from an authentic Jumbo: free rotating wheels on the bottom of his feet, and a spring-loaded Rocket Punch firing fist.

Utilizing the same techniques implemented by Japanese toy manufacturers in the 1970s, the Super Shogun is constructed from durable, blow-molded polyethylene with a painted vinyl helmet. The figure is articulated at the neck and shoulders, and includes a removable, highly-detailed BlasTech E-11 laser blaster, which even features a posable stock that unfolds from below the barrel. This marks the first authentic Super Shogun produced in over twenty-five years.

Shoulda

Honestly... I would have jumped on this if only the goddamn rifle launched missiles that could have attached to/stored on the jumbo. That my friends would have made this an outstanding retro style jumbo!

That neon orange barrel cap is f-ing hideous!

The orange cap is a US safety requirement, unfortunately.

And as far as I know, it's

And as far as I know, it's not removable per se, but when I get one I'll let you know if it can be modified anyhow. Though honestly, I sort of like it in a weird way! Gives the toy some of that completely inappropriate color like old toys often had.

Although, now that you

Although, now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure the E-11 doesn't have a curved power pack.

No, scratch that. Way too nerdy.

I just think the original

I just think the original ones were wrong. Those early kenner figures were not known for their accuracy.

Nerd cap on while wearing a

Nerd cap on while wearing a gun nut armband.

The Blastech E-11 prop was based on a British Sterling sub-machine gun, they added a German spotting scope and an obscure industrial counting device to make it look "spacey". They also cut down the curved magazine to about 1/5 the length.

Removing gun nut armband.

The old Kenner gun for the small figures was nothing like the prop, as were most accessories, largely due to the fact that Kenner was rushed to get the toys out and just sculpted things from film stills with very little detail - some stills were in fact reversed - making the final toys reversed as well.

You know I'd actually like the gun on the Jumbo to be "wrong" as well, adding to the funk.

As a SW fan...

I just have to point out the mistake "Episode IV: The Empire Strikes Back!" should actually be Episode V (five).

The Spice must flow.

New Stormtrooper images

Heads up, guys. The other day, Rebel Scum posted some new images of the Jumbo Stormtrooper, including closeups of the gun, firing fist, wheels and the orange cap, which looks like it's pops off easily, judging by the pics. :)

Check them out HERE.

I'll also have pics of the waist stickers up soon, too. ;)
