DX Bandai Samurai Gattai Shinken-Oh is very ugly.

Not THAT bad

Well, it's not that bad. At least, it takes an interresting change from the usual lines. I might get it, but not for almost 100$.

I agree- it's not THAT

I agree- it's not THAT bad.

Obviously poseability for the individual Origami was thrown out the window. (The Lion reminds me of the Id monster from "Forbidden Planet".) The Monkey is probably my least-favored so far, while the Bear and Dragon are pretty cool.
My only gripe about the Shinken-Oh is how big the head is. Perhaps in pre-production it could have been sized down a little, even though that may have been the style of the time period. Oh, and the absolute lack of upper legs...

Don't get me wrong- these are still exotic designs, and I will be getting one to cover for CDX first chance I get.

Josh, where there any images of the kanji/Badge modes?

$80-!? Holy crap!

$80 for that...

...and without ANY lights and sound effects whatsoever?? That's way too much, thanks but I'll pass up on this one.

Re: $80 for that...

I'm guessing that three things contributed to the high price:
.

  • gold plating
  • all five Origami are triple-changers
  • the Secret Disc's interactiveness with the rest of the series' toys

-but, yeah that's still pretty harsh for a first wave hero mecha.

Disappointment

That's really too bad...oh well, at least I have my DX Engine Daishogun for now.

Well, if the price dropped to at least $70, then I can consider buying this one.

I LOVE IT

I bough 3 cases of this guy so I can display him
in every mode at the same time. (the basic robo
alone has 3 modes...add ons to follow)

He's 100% AMAZING!

My second favorite after Muteiki Shogun
with Senpujin and the Ginga-robo coming in
3rd and 4th. For me anyway.

I like this figure

I just got this one in Wednesday. The turtle is the easiest and really does not do much. Monkey is next with a little thought he changes pretty easy. The bear seems to be pretty useless and is just a block of plastic. The dragon is the coolest in all three modes. The tiger(?) is ok and the only problem I have found is when you go to megazord mode with his legs. It was worth the money to me.
My only complaint is wishing they could have done something like the timeforce figures that combined in the other mode. Maybe later?

...Bought one as well...

I wasn't able to resist my urge to buy this and suffice to say that it's a durable and fun toy despite the fact that I hated the price and the design in the first place. My kid cousins like the dragon and the bear designs.

They're interested to buy the Kabuto, Kajiki and Tora Origamis soon...

I ordered in early March,

I ordered in early March, but when I did the yellow dot on the site indicated a 60-day waiting period.

With Jumbwhale, last year, I ordered him in June when it was yellow... and canceled my order in October when he never came in; that was the first time I had to do that with HLJ, so I won't hold it against them.

Buying online vs. direct buying

Allow me to share my experience when buying a toy: While there are advantages in buying online, I consider buying the product directly from the store than ordering online nowadays. At least I don't have to pay for the shipping and handling costs since the store where I bought Shinken-Oh always get the toys that I want although I do have to wait for 1 or 2 months before getting a specific product.

Still, it's up to the consumer whether he prefers ordering online or just buy it directly in a store.
