Dynamite Action Big Dai X from X-Bomber (Star Fleet) Updated

Lee! Hercules! Dai X Together! Evolution Toy is adding the Big Dai X from this classic Go Nagai series! X-Bomber (known as Star Fleet in the UK) was produced using puppets in a similar manner to Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation series. Like other Dynamite Action toys, this rendition of Big Dai X uses magnetic joints for its articulation and to allow the figure to break down into its component space ships. Coming May 2014 for 13,800 yen.

Send a message back to Earth Control! Send Star Fleet legions to save our souls!

My friends from the UK would never forgive me if I neglected to mention that Brian May (of Queen fame) did music for the dub.

Also I just want to say as an American I never really had any exposure this show, but that video with its combination of robots, puppets, and prog rock has filled me with so much joy.

I want to be always daring and coooooouraaaaaaageous!

Yes!

Yes, yes, and yes. I must have this bizarre, angry looking Go Nagai hallucination of a robot.

Yup

This is a must buy item.

Only ever saw a few eps from a local video store (same store opened the anime door for me with Force Five releases) and bought said tape for 2.99, as well as their only Harlock tape when it went out of buisness years old.

I swear old ass VHS tapes will be worth millions one day.

Comparison

I would also really like to get this to see how it compares to the old Takatoku toys. I owned the large 12" Blitzkrieg Combination (which I reviewed on this site) version and a smaller 4" version. Both were able to separate and form the 3 ships. The 4" was nice enough but it really didn't have much play or display value. The 12" was a really fun toy with all the missiles and accessories etc. However it's lack of screen accuracy really annoyed me.

I am so happy that this version is screen accurate and can transform in the 3 ships. If it is anything from 7-12" high it will be perfect. :)

Also if this sells well maybe other lines like Soul Of Chogokin will make a Dai X as well.

Oh hell yes... yes...I will own this...
Now i can live my fan-fic form 1986 of X-Bomber teaming up with Voltron to take on the evil Transformers.
This has made me very happy.

Mark M, it's great to see a fellow enthusiast on this site.
Dai-X was probably the top 3 robots I remember from my childhood. The others being Dairugger and Optimus Prime.
This design has been crying out for a decent rendition for years. Glad someone has finally recognised the potential. I can't wait for this. Price be damned; I just hope it scales nicely and isn't below 7"

VHS

The 2nd VHS video I ever got was Star Fleet The Quest For F01, when I was about 3 so he was one of the first (if not the first) robots I ever saw so I have a real fondness for the Dai X robot.
