Amazon announces Frustration-Free packaging, hates toy collectors.
Packages Suck. Lets face it, if you want to actually play with a toy, you have to come armed with a box cutter, a pair of pliers, and a screwdriver. Not fun. I've cut myself on that stupid clamshell packaging more times than I can count.
So when Amazon announced their Frustration-Free packaging, I thought to myself, what a great idea. Its better for the environment, shipping will likely be cheaper. For a lot of products, this makes perfect sense.
But, for the Toy Collector, it is a nightmare.
Yeah, I open all my toys, but I love to keep the boxes. Imagine if you went to order a new Star Wars vehicle from Amazon, and it arrives in a plain brown box, not the cool looking box in the store. Imagine your kid opening Christmas presents and all they are is nondescript brown boxes. Yeah, that's fun.
And think about all the toy collectors who keep things Mint in Box? They will shop elsewhere...

3 comments postedIt looks like right now they offer both options, which is cool, but I agree, if I were a kid and got that plain brown box, I'd be much less excited. I don't see why they can't just print the artwork and stuff right on the frustration free boxes?
