 Hold onto your hats, gang, and get ready for the Japanese toy event of the century! For the first time ever, an entire collection is being auctioned off at one time. And what a collection it is! If you don't know the name Mark Solondz right now, fear not. You soon will and you won't forget it. No matter what type of toy you like, I'm sure it'll be represented in his massive collection. Here's just a small sample of the goods that will be available. Look at all that gokin!
 
Is vinyl your thing? You're covered! The image below is just a tiny sampling of the vinyl that will be on hand. 
Sanjeev was there to catalog it all and it was all he could do to prevent his head from exploding! 
The tin collection that will be presented is also just out of this world. I'm no expert on that stuff, but Mr. C10 himself, Josh Fraser, says that some of the best pieces in the world will be up for grabs.   This whole shebang was presided over by our good friends at ToyboxDX.com. Check out the brog posts on the subject, with behind the scenes, drool-inducing pictures here. Now, the details. This auction will take place on the weekend of November 13-14 at Morphy's Auction House in Denver, PA. The event is open to the public and the goods are already set up and ready for previewing. There will also be a gathering of robot collectors that Friday night. Check out the TBDX brog for details, and also see the Morphy's website for more details, rules and a look at each lot. Online bidding is available now and will run until that weekend, if you can't make the event in person. But attendance is highly encouraged, if possible. It promises to be a great time and who knows, you just may walk away with some great scores!

I believe Sanjeev's point is that there is hundreds, maybe thousands of toys there and to judge it all based on three pictures does the auction, and more importantly yourself, a disservice. But as Josh says below, a big part of the draw is the get together Friday night. Even if you didn't bid on a single toy, it's worth it to come just for that. Maybe in my haste (I had to publish this in a hurry before leaving for work that day) I didn't emphasize that aspect of it enough. This will be like a Summit and the Kimono My House gathering mixed together, x 2. I don't know how to put this but...it's kind of a big deal. "This must be settled the way nature intended....with a vicious, bloody fight!" Agreed, big deal. Agreed, too few pictures above for me to make a solid judgment. Cannot afford to go, nor stick my hand in anything there. Thus, I did not comment because there was nothing of interest for me in those pictures above.  Got my catalog today - getting more excited about it. While there will be lots of awesome stuff to buy, I will likely be going for the social aspect of it. There will be a LOT of people from all over the US to see this, lots of people I only know by internet handle. Terrible time to be poor. ------------------------------  Can't afford to fly out for the weekend, but I am interested in the catalog. Are the pics different than the group shots posted in the online catalog? Is there additional info posted in the catalog for each item/lot? I wonder if Morphy would mind if someone posted a pic of a sample page?  Jape, the Catalog should be essentially identical to what's on the website...just a much nicer presentation. Same images, same descriptions. Just more elegant layout, glossy hardcover, etc... --  Got my catalog finally! Man is this nice! It's like a freaking yearbook! |
