Hope it has more die-cast than the Popyica version (only die cast on it...is the engine)
well the engine lit...
16" is pretty big, that's about 1/600 scale. Looks like there's plenty of stuff packed in, although...the drill missile, guys? Seriously? And without the Macross Quarter's transforming gimmick there should be less floppiness to worry about.
edit: huh. The torpedo hatches on the bow don't open? That's kind of disappointing.

I will buy it, no doubt. I live for the Argo, but I don't like the sculpt of the bow. I know the design of the Yamato varies on what frame and season of the show you are looking at but some are clearly cooler looking than others. I feel like, sculpt wise, popy hit in the nose with the PC-12.
The sides of the hull also look strangely smooth.
We got the Soul of Popynica version of Yamato, I'm satisfied with it. Then, Bandai released a slightly bigger version of it with a higher price tag (then labelled it Chogokin) and more features compared to the Popynica version, I hope they give it more METAL as well, 'cause I have an insane obsession with die-cast scale models/figures/vehicles,etc, etc. And let's pray that the stock won't be as limited as the SoP version.
I have a bitter-sweet feeling regarding this release. First I was surprised that Bandai would issue another Yamato with some added gimmicks. Secondly the torpedo hatches on the bow seem they don't open. Besides, the sides of the hull also look worryingly smooth.
What?! No panel lines?! Is this the way the final product would look like or is this the prototype? Obviously I would like to have a state-of-the-art and accurate diecast Yamato but for the time being I'll be happy with my Taito pre-painted plastic model in 1/665 scale which also comes with the wave motion gun trigger together with lights and sound effects. To think that this beauty cost me around $24.00!!!!
