The Macross/SDF-1 has been

The Macross/SDF-1 has been one of the least-wanted things I wanted a toy of throughout the life of Macross.

A 1/60 Monster can't be far behind considering this is much more complex. I'm still hoping it's a possibility.

Those things in front look more like cannon that can be placed around the thing. They are too big to be mecha if scaled correctly.

Maybe it's made of PEC since it's an unofficial Jumbo.

$529-and-change? ...I'd pay

$529-and-change? ...I'd pay that! Or maybe $300...

Now that is fkin' awesome!

"Let the saliva flow!"

O.o;

. . .

On the other hand, I'd be equally satisfied with a far-cheaper re-release of the original fully-transformable Macross that Takatoku Toys designed- but have it slightly retooled for clean-up purposes only- and then have a separately-sold movie ver. at the same scale/price.

I'm entirely with JoshB on

I'm entirely with JoshB on this: the movie version's okay and I'm totally glad people are psyched for it...but I have ZERO intention of getting it. Fortunately, Yamato fears not the remold! I'll wait patiently for the inevitable TV version.

I doubt there'll be much in the way of electronics, but who knows... Sounds would definitely be nice: the red alert siren, the Wave Motion Gu--uh...I mean, the Macross Cannon firing...hell, maybe some music from the show! Lights would be hot--like, little fiber optic lights strewn about the surface of the ship.

I dunno about view ports in the legs to see the city inside. A pricepoint of 50 000 yen wouldn't get you that much. More than fair price, by the way, considering the general cost of these sorts of collectibles. Anyway, back to the city, maybe some of you hardcore Macross fans can answer this: I always just assumed the city was in one of the legs...what the hell's in the other leg!? I doubt the city occupied both legs--they never made mention of having to make the long, annoying trek up one leg, around some super-dimensional crotch, and down the other leg...

Anyway, miniature mecha will probably be too much to ask for, but 1cm Valks and Destroids (and bigger Monsters) would be amazing!

As I understand it, Macross

As I understand it, Macross City occupied just the center/torso of the Macross; it was the movie that expanded the size of the city into other locations, like the legs.
What's deceiving about the City is that it's not on a single horizontal plane like it was on South Ataria Island... After the first transformation, it was rebuilt on multiple tiers and levels, as is better seen in the movie. Building vertically would allow for a much larger population than a single horizontally/gravity-constricted city of 50,000 would.

Though obviously non-canon, Palladium Books (sp?) released a floor plan of the SDF-1 around the time that "Macross II" came out.
But whether-or-not an official floor plan/layout is out there, I don't know.

$500

Yeah, $500? I don't think so. I'd like a nice DX SDF-1 Macross toy. I would not like a $500 robot coffee table.

$200

Do you really mean that? Would you reconsider if that overgrown battlestar robot cost about $200?

Not to speak for Jeremy, but

Not to speak for Jeremy, but I think he means it...but only as a personal opinion--not as a sweeping generalization for all toy collectors.

I personally think that $500 is just fine a price for something like this. It's a modern adult collectible with all the bells and whistles...that's two-freakin'-feet long!

Then again, if this turns out shoddy...I may just save up and plunk down however much a boxed original Takatoku 1/3000 Macross goes for these days. I have the Matchbox and I love it, but it'd be nice to have the un-neutered version!
