McFarlane Toys announces a partnership with Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) to produce action figures from the hit video game franchise, Guitar Hero®. The first line is expected to hit store shelves this fall.

When I hear the name McFarlane Toys, two words that do not come to mind are “toy” and “quality.” Yet when I saw this Aliens vs. Predator “play set” on clearance at Toys R Us I couldn’t stop myself from picking it up. Waste of money or worth it? Read on to find out.

These toys are so great; it almost makes me forgive McFarlane for all the other crappy toys they put out at the time.

I have to admit, I am one of the few people I know that actually liked all the Matrix movies. The toys however, were a different matter. Most of them were just plain bad. It's common knowledge that I haven't been a big fan of McFarlane toys in the past, and the majority of the Matrix toys just reinforced that opinion.

Since I've already expressed my dislike for the Tetsuo figure, you can imagine
how I feel about Kaneda. He's about 6 3/4 inches tall and has 10 points of
articulation. 11 if you count the goggles that swing freely around his neck.

The Tetsuo figure looks great. I think they captured the emotion and intensity of the Akira manga well.
