x-plus vs ccp
I constantly see listings that uses these companies names a seemingly interchangeable. Yet there are two different listing here on Collection DX, and they seem to have different web sites. Are they separate companies, and if so does one have a better reputation? Or, is this like a SH figurearts/ultra act where it is a distinction in otherwise similar format figures along licencing lines but all produced the same company. Or, perhaps they are from the same parent company but differ in scale or construction so much the created different sub-companies to differentiate them? I have never bought any fixed pose vinyl beyond a 6 inch Jet Jaguar I picked up in China town for 25.00, so I am new to all this. I am not looking to buy this piece, but just to give you an example of the type of listing I often see:
I can't really help you with the product quality, but they're different (and unrelated) companies who both do fairly detailed vinyl kaiju (so I guess they might even be rivals). I'm guessing when you see stuff that combines the two together it's because the intended audience is similar and the seller trying to get extra hits, like how you usually see Takatoku paired with Chogokin and vice versa on Ebay.
It's kind of scummy, the link you posted is the CCP version of Gubira, although the seller doesn't actually mention that anywhere. Maybe for that price tag they're just assuming that the buyer would know what they're looking for. You can see a comparison between the two versions at http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/draum_blue/62125397.html
Thanks, knowing they are definitely different companies helps, even if auction labels are often..."vague" that blog was helpful too, thanks again!
