Maybe it's just me, but the quality of the podcasts has seriously dropped lately. The discussions meander all over the place, and what used to be a fun, snarky anime podcast has seemed to switch focus to "hey look at this really bad Tim Curry movie we found." So, is this ever going to go back to its interesting, fun anime roots, or is it going to continue to descend into the garbage heap?

Boy, you know how to make a girl feel loved.

We have never been anime exclusive. Our 4th episode was about a video game, our 12th was about Hollywood Zap, and our 18th was about Battlestar Galactica. We have been doing the occasional crappy movie since very early on.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy The Worst Witch podcast, but maybe you should have posted your comments on that podcast, instead of this one about Kikaida.

Are we going to talk about more anime? Of course we are. But it was Halloween and we were having a little fun.

There's only about nine jillion anime podcasts out there. Clearly the market needs another bunch of nerds talking about the latest Evangelion movie, because Lord knows that anime podcasts are the ONLY place ANYONE could POSSIBLY learn that sort of thing.

PS I will admit that this podcast was a bit more scattered than others. It's all Star's fault. She sent Feddy to sabotage us. After all, she's just using us as a stepping stone, so she needs the podcast to be terrible unless she's in it!

I for one usually enjoy the podcasts, though this one was a bit hard to follow and a little silly.

i loved dapcdx when it was jeremy and andrew talking about robots. awesome. i still go back and listen to the sdf macross and macross7 shows because they were so on point. i got almost 17 minutes into this one, not even halfway, and had to stop when someone made that FU*KING duck sound one too many times and i'm sure it kept happening right up to the end. come to think of it, the last one i was even able to get all the way through was the megazone 23 show. well that and andrew's last show, the angry transformers 2 review, that was great. point is, it works when you have something that all the people involved like enough or hate enough to talk about it on internets, but now it's like no one on the podcast even cares about what they're doing a podcast about. it was obvious that not everyone in the room gave enough shits about kikaida to make this worthwhile as a kikaida podcast. just my opinion, but definitely a fail guys.

MostlyHarmless....you gotta watch the language. We're allowed to criticize on this blog, but we're not allowed to say the 'F' word here. CDX zone, remember.

I'm sorry you did not enjoy this podcast, MostlyHarmless, but not every show can be about robots. Both DAPDX and CDX cover a variety of other topics including Japanese and American superheroes. We definitely have more robot anime on the horizon (Gunbuster is going to be very soon, for example) and while not every podcast can be a winner, we have done a number of podcasts after the Megazone 23 one that I am proud of including Champion Joe, Getting Any?, The Maxx, Aeon Flux, Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye, The Calamari Wrestler, Power Rangers, and even the Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode.

Transformers and Power Rangers are giant robot shows, so I'm not sure I agree with your assertation that we're not doing robots anymore. In point of fact, Kikaida is a robot show.

I think an issue here may be that I really love the anime series Android Kikaider - The Animation and didn't realize that the live action series would be so cheesy and superficial in comparison. The plan is to do the animation later and we'll see if that is more to your liking.

We miss Andrew's contributions to the show as well, you can still enjoy his frequent robot toy reviews right here on CDX under the name VF5SS. Most of them have videos so you can even get your recommended daily requirement of his voice too!

Yeah, I have to admit that the duck thing was not really as funny as it seemed at the time. I think I was more interested in teasing Feddy than anything else. Seriously, we just didn't get much out of Kikaider. I suppose we could have gone into the history of metal heroes vis-a-vis the larger sentai genre, and the thematic difference between a being created to be a hero and someone who has heroism thrust upon them, but seriously--we're talking about a show where the hero's costume is a bunch of tinfoil glued to his head.

Wow guys...just wow. This is what happens when you allow a hippie-lady who sounds like Meg Griffin to infect the ship with her lucky charms. You let her torture a gutless wuss like Feddy, forced him to watch hours of crappy Toku-shows like Kikader or Thundermask, brainwashed him into a quacking duck, and start quacking out the poops in the cockpit like erratic gooney birds running wild in an airplane 90,000ft above the ground causing a turbulence. I don't mind you guys making a mockery of those shows, but seriously the quacking noise was highly intolerable. How can you guys shoot the hell out of a show with photon torpedos with charming wits while you get distracted from that boogar-picking quacking noise? The quacking noise was nauseating enough to make me throw-up.

This 70s show must've really drove you guys quackers cause it sucks donkey-poop in the rump & spits it out from the mouth.

This podcast has convinced me not to watch a wacky-tacky show like Kikaider, because if I watch it for hours I would go quackers & I really don't need that. I'm already crazy enough as it is right now.

Dear Jermey, your sharp perception never fails to amaze me sir. You've noticed something special about Sarah Brown when she was Kaitlin on VR Troopers. I've noticed that too pal....she's quite an amazon isn't she? A real smart, brave-hearted gal she was....Shuki Levy must've really loved her very much. I sorry he didn't marry her. You've just missed her playing a femme fatale lady in black in General Hospital. No, she wasn't the mobster's wife Carly, she was another character that I've mentioned about. I was informed that she's booked to star in The Bold & The Beautiful & that soap's full of lovely ladies.

I don't to mean to sound negative sir, but... with all due respect (I'm NOT condenscending when I say this mind you Robot B. I'm sticking to the old-school TEXT)...I've felt that mixing VR Troopers with this Kikaider episode in your review was pretty awkward.

Due to the nature of this unconventional, experimental mockery that you had in store for a poopy, smelly, wacky-tacky, taku-foolery of a show as of Kikaider, I've felt VR Troopers shouldn't have been implanted in this podcast.

Why didn't you save this for another podcast discussion I wonder?

Why not just compiled Kikaider w/ Saban's Masked Rider or Big Bad Beetleborgs for that matter? Both of them would've been sufficient for Kikaider. Come to think of it, Masked Rider would've been perfect for your annoying quacking experiment b/c the stupid show had a stupid talking duck named Ferbus.

Perhaps if you've taken that route sir...this episode would've justifed the experiment, the results would've been in the mission's favor, and there would've been no downers.

I'm not saying it has to be perfect b/c nothing's perfect & that's the human way of nature. I just saying it just needs to be balanced.

You know what I'm saying here sir?

This isn't the first time somebody repeated something over and over again on DAPC, I remember earlier on somebody repeating a musical phrase over and over again at nausea through most of the podcast. They though they were being so funny but it just made me turn it off.

But one aspect I liked about DAPC was they did other types of movies. My favorite ever will be the Mel Gibson review and I believe the hosts always pick good subject but the specific state if DAPC I don't know as I haven't listen to it in over a year.

Good luck to your next 100!

Yeah I know that Modcineaste, I've reluctantly brought this up with the Gondarharr podcast that they did and etc. I said reluctantly because I didn't want to hurt the captain's pride. I got admirable respect for the captain and his crew, and I know they don't mind angry letters...but still writing angry letters to a podcast ship that I admire a lot bruises my conscience and I don't do this oftenly.

I really meant what I said about supporting the subjects that they present are outside Asian entertainment. I'm all for that; they need to be presented outside the cultural norm. I hope that they review more hidden gems like Russian Animation films, more Brother Quay films, Fitzcarraldo, Super Week, Barnyard Commandos, Creepshow, Ren & Stimpy, Once A Hero, Alive from Off Center, Read All About It! etc. in the near future.

I hope that I wasn't harsh on my last comment to this episode. I was only expressing what I've experienced. Mr. Feddy, I hope I didn't hurt your feelings for calling you a wuss. I understand you're significant member of the crew and I expect you to appear more shows to come.

To Ms. Star, what I've said about your voice sounding like Meg Griffin, I want to be on record that I've meant nothing negative about your voice. I am an admirer of Mila Kunis & her performance, so your voice reminds me of her. I hope you didn't take offense at that statement. I want to hear more of you podcasting the ship for more missions to come. You are significant to the crew & that is affirmative.

Oh 'Mr. J'...I do have a question for you. You said that you got a Kikaider Anime review in the works, will you also be reviewing Super Machine-Man Metalder & other Metal Heroes shows as well w/ comparision to VR Troopers as well?

PS: Sir, you don't have to make an addenum of VR Troopers if you don't want to.

It wasn't a request nor an order.....it was just a question; i was only curious.

I can live without the addenum. You're the captain of the ship & I'm only a space drifter. Whatever you decide I'll support it, b/c freedom is the right of all sentient beings; but with great freedom comes great action.
