If you are here on CDX, then there's at least one thing you have in common with the rest of the site. You like toys. You love them. You collect them. You share an enthusiasm for the hobby. And that's great. But here's a question for you. Have you ever stopped and wondered WHY you like toys? Why do you even bother collecting? What started your collection habits?

For me, the whole basis of my collecting started with Transformers: Beast Wars Rattrap, in particular. Not only were the toys fun to fiddle with an occupy my 6-year-old brain, but the show helped cement the line and play style in my brain. The characters were intriguing, the plot was fantastic, and overall the show was an amazing experience for me as a kid. And it was only the start.

Just letting everyone know I'm still here! I know I usually post an eye full of words, but I thought this time I'd show a little something of what I've been doing while I've been out of the shop.

Praetorian V0.0

So like any good obsessive, I've long harbored a desire to create my own bot. I've been sketching on the Praetorian model for awhile, and have recently attempted to get the nuts and bolts worked out in CAD.

Check out this vague image!

Perhaps you can tell that I am a Syd Mead fan.

I have no idea what those legs are doing as of yet.

I'm keeping it blocky, at least initially, to make sure the mech actually works physically. No anime magic for me.

I'll keep the blog updated as I make progress. I'm thinking of chip-board next.

Update: Now with better legs!

Turbo Teen

So a friend of mine was kind enough to pick me up my very own Turbo Teen.

From what I can tell, it's a scaled-up Gobot with the head of an adolescent boy.

I'm thinking of going all out with the build, considering it's a pretty simple model. I haven't yet commited to airbrushing a project, but this could be the perfect opportunity.

Update

Thanks to Diakron for letting me know that this comes from a proper, terrible cartoon from the eighties!
