This has nothing to do with action figure collecting, but some of you around my age may remember when collecting comics was hot. Well,I just received copies of Youngblood 0 and 1,and even though they're basically worthless now (1 dollar each) it's still pretty novel to own them. I read both of them in about 15 minutes combined, and they are just as terrible as you remember. I cannot believe this stuff was ever XTREME and cool. I've been reading comics my whole life yet there are parts where I can't readily figure out what order the narration boxes or word bubbles are supposed to be read in. The funniest part is trying to tell my wife these used to be behind glass at the comic shop for like a hundred bucks each.

So I finally cleared out the garage and got to my GI Joe bins. After 5 years of writing for CDX I very much nearly finished with reviewing my Anime toys from when I was I kid. I still have at least 1 gem left and a few other minor pieces but this is it. No worries about getting new anime items and model kits as I'm still looking for great new and vintage items.

Where the late 80's was dominated by Anime and Macross, the early 1980's was dominated by GI Joe. I stopped collecting around 1985 so I concentrated my collection for the years between 1982-1985. In 2011 I plan to start reviewing my GI Joe collection and have been going through my collection, replacing parts and making an inventory of what I am missing. Yo Joe!

I have been slowly getting my WWII Imperial Japanese Army uniform together. I picked up the following items recently including a beautifully personalized Mess Kit dated Showa 17. I'm particularly concentrating on get a Japanese Battle of Iwo Jima impression together to display will my WWII USMC kit. I still need some tropical pants and boots for a stand alone display. I hope to find sake cups, a backpack, blanket roll, a helmet with a complete liner, Arsaka rifle and ammo pouches and belt at a later date.

Hey,if you like Star Wars, cooking,or just pissing away your money on foolish extravagances, you need to get to your local Williams Sonoma. They've got Star Wars spatulas, cookie cutters, pancake molds, sandwich cutters (what?),cupcake papers, and some other stuff.

Speaking of SW,did you know Asaj Ventress is from the same group of witches as the villian from the TV movie Battle for Endor, and the witches from the classic novel Courtship of Princess Leia? Well she is,according to this month's Star Wars Insider magazine.

If you're about my age,Mickey Mouse has been for little kids your whole life. Even your Mom and Dad probably think of singing along to the Mickey Mouse club during wholesome afterschool programming. What a lot of people don't know though,is that the Mickey Mouse your grandfather liked to watch was less Big Bird and more Homer Simpson. Just go on Youtube and watch "Gallopin Gaucho","Mickey's Mechanical Man" or" Steamboat Willie" (the uncut version) to see what I mean. Well, that mickey is back-in video game form,in Epic Mickey on the Wii.
It's a platform game that combines elements of Mario galaxy (spin move) Mario Sunshine(water,in this game paint thinner) and Lego Star wars( you paint in predetermined spots, like the "building" in lego games).

"To celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Super Sentai franchise, we welcome the newest addition to this long running tradition of heroes, the free spirited squad of pirates, the Kaizoku Sentai Goukaigers! On top is the first official picture of the 2011 Super Sentai team!

The core members of Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger is said to came from a different dimension, who wonders the sea of time and space riding their mothership, called GouKaiGalleon, which transforms into this season's main robo, GouKaiOh. It is also rumored to be based on Noah's Ark and might hold all the auxiliary mechas.

Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger's henshin device will be called Mobairets (Mobile + Pirates) and the legendary ranger figures that they'll use to transform to previous Sentai Senshis will be called RangerKeys.

Well,I had a chance to watch the Black Friday premieres of Transformers Prime,G.I. Joe Renegades, and Young Justice.

Transformers:
This was pretty lackluster. Beast wars was like 15 years ago,and the CG in this doesn't look any better. I wasn't expecting Pixar-level animation, but this looks like a budget title for Playstation One. I really don't understand why they didn't just make it regular 2D animation if this is the best they could do CG-wise. It ends up failing in it's main purpose (a toy commercial) because kids will just want the more detailed and cooler (to kids at least) movie styled toys, and adult collectors will still prefer Classics and WFC figures. Of course,It's a moot point since the toys for this aren't even coming out for like a year.

All the character's voices are horrible impersinations of the G1 voices, except Optimus, who I think is the real Peter Cullen, and Cliffjumper, who's the Rock (former WWE wrestler).
