The Veef Show Episode 38 - The History of the Takatoku VF-1 Valkyrie
Renato returns to the podcast to talk about the history of this legendary toy.
This is the prototype for the Takatoku Battroid Valkyrie VF-1J. At first it was called the Valkyrie DX. Most fans refer to it as the 1/55th scale VF-1. Some may remember it as the toy that became Autobot Jetfire.
Here are some resources courtesy of Macrossworld and Macross Tamashii.

I would like to thank Renato again for being on the show and translating all these old interviews.
Renato posted this over at Macrossworld's new main page (clear your cache if you can't see it.) He included the sources for all of the information in this show.
"I believe a great deal of this information is new to English-speakers, since a lot of it is taken from the following Japanese sources: Figure Oh #130, #77 and #134; Model Graphix #318, and Shoji Kawamori Macross Design Works."
Everyone show your appreciation for him and his accent.

I uploaded the podcast to our youtube channel to make it easier to listen to it.
Veef, man. Nice work on this show. I've read a few "history of the valk" type articles over the years but you guys knocked this one out of the park. comprehensive, detailed, fun. Glad to see you've uploaded it to YouTube and frontpaged it so many others will check it out. Most def one of the best things CDX has done in a while!
What happened over the last few months? The quality of your reviews, photography, all of it has skyrocketed. Great work. You dudes deserve gold encrusted TT valkyrie statues for this. just awesome.
I stopped worrying about what self-righteous jerks on the internet were saying about me.
...Looking forward to the 2 hour in depth study on Gerwalk Phantom....
Fingers are crossed!

Actually if you have information about the history of Macross model kits I'd love to get together and talk about them.
wow... we have had beef in the past but jeez. no need to be such an asshole when i'm complimenting you. :(
"why did your work suddenly become good" is what is known as a backhanded compliment, as it is a way of complimenting someone with an unmissable negative implication - in this case, the implication is "your work used to really suck"
Thanks for your incorrect assumption and explanation. Maybe i should have typed "your recent reviews have been great" to make myself more clear. Veef and I have had it out on here in the past, and I'm expressing that he's won a bunch of good cred in my book. No backhand, positivity...
It's not an assumption. I'm trying to explain to you that what you said had the inevitable connotation of a backhanded compliment. That's how I read it, and obviously that's how Veef read it too.
I don't need you to explain anything for or to me. Plus, *no one asked you* - Start your own fights with folks instead of trying to start one between me and others. Go troll someone/somewhere else.
The reason I have appeared to improve (to you) is because I wanted to work hard to please myself, my friends, and others who have a passion for this subject. It had nothing to do with people who contribute nothing but negativity and preachy authoritative diatribes to our community. I do not care if you are an older collector or not because there is no seniority in this hobby.
I will not have this thread closed due to your flippant behavior. The adults in the children's toy community do not need someone who is using the exact same language as a guy trying to impress a women by putting her down. I do not appreciate nor do I respect the way you post on my articles or anyone else's.
As a staff member, I am warning you to clean up you act.
You are not allowed to post in this thread regarding anything other than the main subject. If I see you doing so, it will be moderated or deleted. If you have a problem with that, you can contact the administrator and he will forward your message to me.
I honestly thought you did a good job. I wasn't messing with you in the slightest. There was no hidden meanings/intentions. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way. I meant no malice or ill will towards you.
This was a great post, and I hope you do another about Macross Plus.
Renato shared this on Macrossworld's new main page and listed the sources for the information, which I mirrored in the main post.
Bring Renato back in the show again -- he's a good co-host + he co-knows his Veefs & Mechs well.
