Like many 20-somethings on the internet, I had a podcast. The genesis for The Veef Show was the encouragement I'd gotten for doing solo episodes ofDestroy All Podcasts DX.With its upredictiable schedule, stream of consciousness discussions, and esoteric humor, this podcast serves as a digial mirror for my ecclectic interests. If I had to say anything about the show as a whole, it would be that I only sound informed because I listen to people smarter than I am.
Note: This article heavily refers back to topics discussed in episode 38 of "The Veef Show" podcast. Also, please read "The Imai Files" by Roger Harkavy for information on their role in the creation of Genesis Climber Mospeada and Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross.
Carl from the Ogiue Maniaxblog returns to finish our look at Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans with an in-depth (and spoiler-filled) discussion of the second season. Be sure to check Carl's article about Iron-Blooded Orphans on his blog. You can listen to our podcast on the previous season here.
For this episode of the Veef Show, I am joined by Dkun to discuss the "Game of Thrones of animation," which is better known as Transformers: Combiner Wars. Download the episode to hear us discuss a bunch of cooler things before actually talking about Combiner Wars. May contain minor spoilers for Kinnkuman and Brave Witches too.
Recently, Adrian Lozano (@giantrobo) of the Macross Speaker Podcast kindly sent me this vintage Transformers art print he found in Japan. As of this article, I have not been able to determine if this artwork was ever used on an official Transformers product. While the scene depicited is similar to what was used on several home video releases of the Transformers cartoon, it does not match any I have come across. In an effort to find out the history of this art, I am going to take a closer look at the details of this piece, as well as share a full scan of art for personal use. Please credit this article if you do decide to use the artwork.
The piece is a 12 x 8 print on glossy paper. It is mounted to a piece of black construction paper with no identifying marks visible on either side.
I am joined by Carl from OgiueManiax to discuss the latest V-finned television series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Check out our long, rambling, and often off-topic discussion as you travel from Mars to the shining planet called "Earth." Be wary of space pirates and minor spoilers.
I am joined by celebrity translator, Neil Nadelman, in a long discussion of the much malign Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. Join us as Neil brings his boundless enthusiasm and love for a Tomino anime full of kawaii imoutos and precious boys*. Beware of spoilers and angry oniichans.
I team up with Carl of Ogiue Maniaxto discuss the recent anime, Aquarion Logos! The third entry in the series, Aquarion Logos is an ecclectic mix of characters and ideas in where our heroes battle against the literal corruption of words as kanji are transformed into powerful reality-affecting monsters. This is all caused by darts.
ArshadAA and I do a spoiler-riffic discussion of the 1985 anime, Blue Comet SPT Layzner. Directed by Ryosuke Takahashi, this series if a little bit Gundam, a little bit Fist of the North Star, and a whole lot of '80s.
