Podcast Sentai Power Rangers: Episode 1
CollectionDX is proud to host an all new show, Podcast Sentai Power Rangers!
Click here for Episode 1.
Hello ladies and gentleman of CollectionDX. It seems that you have stumbled upon this new podcast that I have crafted. Oh, how rude of me to not introduce myself. My name is Naaim Siddiqi, but people around the internet may know me better as Kuhan.
Along with my friend Colton Clayton (aka Mewzard), I will lead you through the world of Power Rangers and the Sentai upon which they're based. Each week, expect news (usually), reviews (always), and a topic of discussion (most of the time) for the maximum entertainment value we can deliver.
Join us in our return to Power Rangers as well as our first true foray into the Super Sentai as we talk about the currently running Power Rangers: Samurai and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and any series that may follow. We hope you enjoy listening to the podcast as much as we love doing it, because this is going to be one wild ride!

Maybe I should listen to it before I make that statement... ^^;
well, I think it's good ;)
I really hope you guys like it!
I'm listening to Ep. 1 as I type this... and I realized that Colton sounds JUST LIKE one of the weather forecasters on a local station, KOMO 4 News, named Steve Pool.
A YouTube sample of this: link
It's creepy-! O_o;
A very impressive first episode!
There's a lot I commend you guys on that I don't feel it necessary to post it all here (cuz it would take an hour and a half to read). You covered a lot of ground and you gave everything a fair shot.
One thing, though: why is it that, when talking about either PR or SS, the mecha always get a back seat to everything else? yeah, the mecha are brought up, but you'd think that, for so crucial a part of their arsenal, people would talk about them more, and indeed, these franchises would pay them a bit more respect.
I know I'm biased when I say that, since the mecha are a vital part of my interest in both (and now just SS) as tey did when I first saw MMPR in '93, but they do seem to get little more than lip service when it comes to the integrity of the individual series UNLESS the mecha themselves are sentient and seen in non-battle scenes (Engines, Bakuryuu, etc.)
if you would kindly bring this up in a future episode, I would appreciate it.
People have been nagging me about me making more vlogs on my own YouTube channel about PRS and Gokaiger, and while I have wanted to at least note their passages, I don't feel I could produce something weekly. (Most of how I feel about them will go into my commentaries in my reviews of the toys for CDX... IF I can ever get any of them off of back-order-!!)
So I find this new podcast very engaging, and I will notify followers on my YT channel to tune in!
Now I'll go listen to episode 2...
Not to sound rude to the PR fans... isn't Paul Schrader a little bit too old to play Bulk? I mean...he's not teenager anymore.
Paul Schrier is playing the same Bulk character from 19 years ago. He acts as a mentor and guardian to Skull's son, Spike.
Pardon the mispelling. Yeah...I see what you're talking about. I've noticed that....I just couldn't help but asking myself, "Must he act like a goofy teenager in a grown man's body?" I understand that comedy relief is essential to sentai lore, but seeing him like that is kind of hard to swallow. No offense to Mr. Schrier BTW.
I've only seen two episodes of PRS, and that's enough to convince me that it's just more of same. I agree that, while have goofy lugnuts is a nice tribute, why bring Bulk back into that role? He IS too old to do that anymore! Most bullies like him, that I'm aware of, don't end up in good places, and it seems that Bulk has magically avoided a lot of that.
Besides, isn't he on the planet with the rest of the Terra Venture colonists???
Well, as a character, it makes sense for him, and Bulk was in the episode Forever Red on Earth, so clearly, he's still there. I quite like the inclusion of Bulk, and he wasn't really a bully any more by the end. By Zeo, even, he had cleaned up and was training to be a police officer, and in the Wild Force episode, he was managing Bulkmeier's with Skull. As far as the slapstick stuff, the Three Stooges were doing that stuff into their 50s, so it's not like he's too old to get covered in paint or wrapped up like a mummy.
Yeah, he was. Last time I checked, he evacuated to Mirinoi w/ the other survivors after Terra Venture got nuked, but that was a long time ago. So I've failed to get how his character fit in this incarnation. It wouldn't weird me out if Schrier were a different live-action character.
no, Bulk was definitely on Earth as of Forever Red in Wild Force. Maybe he showed up with the Galaxy Rangers during the Lightspeed teamup? All we know is that he is DEFINITELY on Earth, so there's no continuity issue. Besides, it's a kids' show. Do we really need to argue about the continuity? Most of the people watching the show (or at least the target demo) has never even seen Bulk.
Are we to believe that this is some sort of, hee hee hee, magic xylophone?
Well...no..not if you don't want to. All I'm saying that it's kind of odd to me just to see Bulk there. I can't speak for anybody else. If they got no problem with it ( which I'm sure they don't ) then it's a good thing for the show & it's fanbase.
Kuhan, Mewzard- please PM me. I have a proposal to discuss, but neither of you set your Profiles to allow people to e-mail you directly! >.<;
If you have YouTube accounts, you can find me there as user EVAUnit4A.
We give out our podcast email at the end of the show.
