X-Japan

I love Cheezy melodic metal, what CD did you play at the end of the show?

I just talked with my Japanese coworker about X-Japan ( he was in his teens in the 8T's during the metal rage age) and asked him about some other groups. He just turned me on to Earth Shaker, which was his favorite group at the time, which I'm about to listen to,

Funny me and my friend were talking about Black Magic M-66 last night. I loved the closing theme to that film, great pop song but most important and innovative was I remember the closing theme song didn't repeat any verses or Chorus, but it was one great pop section after another that didn't repeat. I always wanted to write a song like that but I never got around to it.

Cheers

Music!

Hey, thanks for listening. All the music in that podcast is X Japan, including the last song.

Earth Shaker, huh? Never heard of them. Can you point me at some of their music?

I don't really remember the closing song from Black Magic M-66. I'll have to go check it out!

One of the first animes I saw

Or, rather, one of the first I saw that I knew was Japanese animation, and not just "cartoons". (The others were Project A-Ko, Gundam 0083, and Maison Ikkoku which was being subbed by a local group.)

It made a big impression. The video game "Quake" came out around that time, and for a long time my online handle was "BlackMagicM66". I only gave it up when I got annoyed at people thinking it was hilarious to type "LOL BM U HAVE FUNNY NAEM"
