Where Can I Find This?

Hello everyone:

Dear Zuey...I had a feeling that you would pop-up in this episode. Dear Star...it's nice to your warm, sweet flowery voice again. Dear JERMEY...somehow and someway...I had an crazy intuitive twitch in my gut that is the Oshii film your frienemy would give you a somewhat apologetic appeal.

I enjoyed the podcast...I want you to know that from this fellow renegade listener. I've already seen Angel's Egg, and I agree with you 100% It's beautifully animated, but the story is as hollow as a dead whale's husk. I have my own interpretation of it, but that dude in there is definitely NOT an allegory of Jesus Christ, nor do I see any signs of rape metaphors concerning the creepy dude smashing that egg.

I probably won't watch Angel's Egg again...just like I'll never watch Scorsese's Taxi Driver again not b/c I didn't think it was a bad movie...it's a good movie for it's darkly character development involving the main character... it's just that seeing Jodie Foster in that flick as that underaged skinny prostitute in that scary urban area really disturbs me...a lot. NOT a big fan of Foster....except for Robert DeNiro...and I really do dig DeNiro.

Anyway, you got me very intrigued about seeing Sky Crawlers but I couldn't find a full version anywhere on YouTube. So... question for you is where can I find this movie on DVD for a good price? My 2nd question is do you know whether or not Production IG will make an Anime TV spinoff of Sky Crawlers anytime soon? My 3rd question is that now that you're impressed with this movie, I'm wondering if you have any plans on reading the novel by Hiroshi Mori or the manga version in the near future.

Well I guess that's all that needs to be said for now...Oh yes...I've noticed that even though you gave Oshii a silver metal earning your interest in this case...It is self-evident from those pictures that you've posted on this blog that Oshii~san retains his look as a creepy, greasy fat freak.

Bless Mamoru Oshii...F#%! Mamoru Oshii...FIN~K

Oshiiy

I really like Taxi Driver a lot more than Angel's Egg, that's for sure!

As for The Sky Crawlers, it has only been shown in theatres in the US in a couple of places so far but will come out on DVD in a few months. In the meantime, there is definitely a fansub floating around.

I haven't heard of any plans for a TV series and I honestly wouldn't want one. I think it would be uh... repetative.

I'd be interested in reading the novel it's based on, but I don't know if it's available in English at all? If someone knows how to get it in English please let me know.

I'm not aware of any Sky Crawlers manga, but if it existed and was not done by Oshii (I liked his Kerberos manga) or the author of the book I probably wouldn't bother.

I don't really think Oshii is FAT, but I do think he's a creepy shut-in and the constrast between him and the pretty girl who plays Kusanagi in the movie is HILARIOUS so that's why I posted a zillion pictures of it.

wait for may

If you want a legitimate US release, I think it's coming out on 5/26/2009. I don't know where it would be on the various torrents.

Spoilers

Since The Sky Crawlers is very new, we were careful not to spoil much. We did not talk about the ending much (other than to say that there's this chick who shows up at the end who sucks), we only spoke specifically of a couple of scenes and in general were really careful about what we talked about.
