Don't worry, the holidays are almost over and everything will be back to normal!

Dynamite 7...I haven't watched this mini-series in a long time. So this is the part in which Mylene gets raped in this show or is about to be sexually assaulted by that sleazy lesbo manager.
I keep forgetting. I better listen to this podcast to find out.

Well, please do listen to the podcast, but yeah, this is the Macross show where a woman tries to date rape Mylene.

Indeed I did listen to your podcast. Hope you didn't mind, but I needed to rewatch the OVA before I've listened you guys first.
I agree with you that Fire Bomber was sadly waste of time and I really dig Fire Bomber a lot. I also thought that the Mylene date rape scene was a waste of time as well.
The animetors should've strictly made this to a Basara and Ghamrin's Excellent Adventure OVA. That would've been effective.
I also disagree with your character analyis w/ Graham. Obviously he's based on the Capt. Ahab character, and he's very human but he is in no way a villian. I seen him as a pissed off giant elf-like vigilante whale hunter who wanted to avenge his wife's death. He didn’t end up killing the whale after all, and seriously why would Graham continue to poach more space whales after he came to terms with his grievances against them for what they did to him. I mean perhaps he was just joking with Liza saying that he’ll be there to poach them. I think he really meant to guard the whales from being poached from those space pirates.
I really don't think that Space Whale killed his wife on purpose. It was an accident and Basara realized that when he communicated with the beast.
The animetors should've strictly made this to a Basara and Ghamrin's Excellent Adventure OVA. That would've been a more effective OVA.

A "pissed off giant elf-like vigilante whale hunter who wanted to avenge his wife's death" is not a huge departure from Ahab. He didn't kill the whale not because of Basara's singing, but because he now felt he owed the whale a debt, so it earned a temporary reprieve. It seemed pretty clear to me he was going to still keep hunting the whale.

About the Fire Bomber concert without Basara and Mylene.
Wouldn't all the Fire Bomber fans be used to that kind of stuff? I mean Basara was a huge flake throughout the TV series and I'm sure that was no different between 7 and Dynamite.
They'd be used to Basara being a flake, but Mylene is always super reliable and can sing just fine.

True, but what I meant is that Fire Bomber fans would probably be used to all the random and crazy stuff. heck, it could even be an attraction to see what the next crazy thing would be.
Hearing about the Saved By The Bell bit made me think of a lot of those shows like the Archies cartoon where you'd have Archie singing pretty decently (provided by Ron Dante), while his speaking voice is terribly awkward and sounds like he had is nuts chopped of when he was 10 (provided by Dal McKennon). Those were quite awkward moments in shows that have characters performing songs like that.
Haha, what a funny thing to relate it to. Did you hear the podcast about Return to Riverdale?
