I suppose we can blame our

I suppose we can blame our increasing short-attention spans for bringing about such concepts as the "Minisodes" or the 'Abridged" joke in anime fandub parodies. I recall Disney doing something like this recently with it's "Have A Laugh!" shorts that either present classic shorts with new soundtracks/voices or present the footage as some sort of reality-based clip show. It's amazing these things sell at all on DVD since they don't seem worth it outside broadcast/internet uses. They're obviously trying to get more out of less in this case.

I don't recall how "Charlie's Angels" was myself, but I do recall it was being at least a little serious with it's action despite having to balance that with it's sexy cast of women in the series including Farrah Fawcett who was there for the first season only. Obviously the first episode attempt was pretty unusual to say the least in trying to cram a 40-50 minute show into 5 minutes, I suppose Charlie's Angels only really works in small doses as long as you can keep it coherent enough without losing the audience I can see they were struggling there. The Three Stooges shorts were of course originally seen in theaters before TV would claim them as a home later on. Those probably would be easier to condense down enough as well as sitcoms like I Dream of Jeannie.

In thinking of parodies of sitcoms just now, I had to think of something the cable channel TV Land once did in the late 90's when they had these "Sixty Second Sitcoms" bits played during the commercial break. I recall seeing these as excellent spoofs of typical sitcom conventions the way they were set up. One was "Spin & Cutter", done in a 1970's/80's look involving two down and out guys who try to get through live and end up in the gutter like usual through a series of "spin cuts" (or segues). Another called "All's Well" involves a 1950's nuclear family often concluding on the situation that occurred before we even started watching it (usually involving the kid's hi-jinks and a police officer who gets in a line or two).

Too bad I don't find any clips to show there, but here's some "TWIP"!

Why does something like this even exist?

Seriously, why?

Enjoyed the podcast

I for one love seeing any and all pop culture stuff from the 70s and 80s on the podcast. I can't get enough of nostalgia! Throwing episodes like these in among the standard genre movies and shows seems like a good idea.

I'm tickled to have won the contest and will be contacting you via email shortly. Thanks!
