The best of the best!
Of course the masochist in me had to look up "Two Tickets to Paradise" and now it will not get out of my head.
Hey there...no offense to you 2 ...L know you folks meant no harm buy this, but I kinda wished you didn't bring up The 'C' Word in this segment because that's how Mr. Sidaris died. Possibly from smoking too much. I don't mean to sound like a prude but sometimes, I just can't handle my sentiments. But back to the subject, all that I can say is 'Savage Beach' is one of my favorite guilty pleasures from the dude, I saw it on HBO when I was a teen. Also, I've found it surprising that you've brought up Mr.Sidaris' accomplishments as far as awards are concerned. Even though he was making adult B-Movies, he was noticeable on mainstream TV. I once remember Entertainment Tonight did an exclusive interview with him while he was shooting 'The Dallas Connection'. It was only at that moment when I found out about his career background. Mr. Sidaris was an awesome but daring old man.
I absolutely understand your sensitivity to the mention of cancer considering Andy suffered from this disease. At the same time, though, I need to mention that I work in the healthcare industry (specifically rehab and nursing care for seniors) and one area of focus for me is humor.
There are many studies being published about the importance of laughing during difficult times and not being oppressed by this "doom and gloom" mentality that so many patients, caregivers and family members often suffer from. My work is primarily with Alzheimer's patients and you would be amazed and touched to see how laughter really helps to improve their mental state and helps get through some potentially heartbreaking or awkward situations.
There IS a way to share laughter without making light of a serious topic.
I believe that a man so wonderful and humorous as Andy Sidaris would have tried to do the same through his bout with cancer. I'd like to think that he would be pleased that we could discuss his highs and lows throughout his career and share some laughter and reverence for all he has accomplished.
For the record, the movie REALLY DOES say stuff about the snake having some weird cancer infection. While we were joking about it, the movie was totally ridiculous.
If you type "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" into Google, it auto-fills with "Hard Ticket to Hawaii cancer snake"
