I scanned this optimistic article from Comics Scene #26 about Fish Police before the show aired on CBS.
This is an article about how Capitol Critters is a bomb and Fish Police and other prime time animated sitcoms could follow suit.
This is a wary article from the LA Times about how Fish Police and other prime time animated sitcoms are a huge, expensive risk and if they are a failure, animation will be dead for years.
This is an article a month later about Fish Police's ratings. Long story short: Fish Police finished 77th out of 90 network prime time shows. That is really, really bad ratings.
Fish Police: The Shell Game
Fish Police: A Fish Out of Water
Fish Police: Beauty's Only Fin Deep
Fish Police: The Codfather -- This episode has never been aired in the United States!
I don't care what anyone else says or if I am the only Fish Police fan in the world, I love this show. You should give it a chance if you enjoy animated comedies like what you see on Adult Swim or if you dig film noir.

Yes! Happy 200th Podcast!
LOL. What a random show to crop up here.
I've got a few Fish Police cels myself. Someone from Hanna-Barbera sold me a box filled to the brim with cel fragments many years ago. I don't know if they were stolen or saved from the trash. Lots and lots of random stuff, but I recognized the Fish Police ones right away. Been a while since I looked, but I know I've got Pearl and Calamari. :-)
I wouldn't be surprised if they were just throwing them out period. Certainly was a show that went nowhere at the time, and a product of what the animation boom did to broadcasters who thought they could put a show up against The Simpsons so early in the game. A later Simpsons episode produced for Halloween had them referencing this along with Capitol Critters and Family Dog as tombstone graves in a cemetery.
I do remember watching one of those episodes that aired and thought it was OK. sometime before I recall CBS or some network doing a morning show where they toured the H-B studios during the time they were working of Fish Police and showed off some of the cels/drawings they had from it.
I love the moments on this show when you guys digress into utter filthiness. Only on this show can I hear a bunch of grown adults talking about jizzing on eggs. Friends of mine see me with my headphones on and ask me what I'm listening to. I lie to them.
Funny show as usual, guys.
Oh, Zuey. Check your gosh darn gee-whiz email.

ANYway, is this when someone mentioned Joss Whedon and "teenagers don't quote Shakespeare?" If this wasn't the podcast, I don't care. First off, teenagers don't FIGHT DEMONS AND VAMPIRES IN A TOWN THAT SITS ON A HELLMOUTH, either. Secondly, when should people quote Shakespeare? I don't know about you but that's when I learned about Shakespeare.
Forgive me, but I never got the argument that Joss Whedon writes everyone the same, and they all sound too smart.
Funny thing about listening to this podcast. I forgot about a lot of this show (like how attractive that fish woman looks. I am VERY confused now, and I think this is 98% the reason as to why Jeremy is the one-man Fish Police fan club) and somehow I manufactured in my memory that Fish Police had a catchy theme song. Now I realize that the theme song I was thinking of was TANK Police, not Fish Police.
So if you want to have some fun, watch the Tank Police opening and insert the word "fish" whenever they say "tank" Good times.
...it would be the fish tank police.
(sunglasses) YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
