Talk about butt-hurt

I'll admit I like Friendship is Magic, kind of ironically, kind of due to nostalgia, but all the extreme butt-hurt going on in that podcast's feedback is pretty sad. It's a fun show that is incredibly cheesy and (sorry!) aimed at children. Oh, and for the record, I voted for Perfect Blue.

To bring it back to this podcast's actual feature, Spider Riders sounds crack-tackular. Your banter was a great example of DAP's irreverence.

I cant believe DAPs catching

In regards to Jeremy reading the comments at the end. I cant believe DAPs catching alot of hate from everyone. I mean its a fun show where the guys and gals just express there opinions about whatever show there watching and sometimes just go off topic, but thats what makes it fun. I cant beleive people are expecting really serious opinions, there are plenty of other podcasts that go for the more "serious" vibe, I think Destroy All podcasts stands out by doing what they do and making it there own and just letting go and having fun.
Ladies and Gentlemen keep doing what your doing and keep talking about random cartoons/anime/tv shows/movies. Keep swearing :)

My Little Pony The Movie

I guess I need to explain my comments about the My Little Pony movie. I wasn't talking about the GOOD ones, like "Rescue at Midnight Castle" and "Escape From Catrina."

The My Little Pony movie I was referring to was the theatrical film released in 1986. the reason why i said it should be called "Ponies Move Into A New House" is because that's the end of the movie. Aside from introducing a few new characters, the whole point of the movie is to discontinue the use of the original pony castle and move the ponies into the Paradise Estate playset.

Sure, there was the stuff about the purple ooze and the three villainesses played by Chloris Leachman, and Rhea Perlman, and Madeline Kahn (the best part of the whole movie, really). However, as I said in my comments on the last show, Marvel Productions split the production between Toei and AKOM. Whenever the villain side of the story was shown, it was like watching an entirely different film. It wasn't quite as obvious as Robotech The Movie, but it's still pretty obvious. I don't even remember if there's any point at which the ponies and their antagonists share screen time, but I'm certainly not going to go back to check.

I know way too much about that movie already.

Oh, and by the way, folks... Being popular doesn't make something good. Friendship Is Magic is crap.

Eat it.

The Dream Team?

That trio of actresses sounds like someone's idea of an All-Star Team Up. Get Judi Dench in there and you've got critical mass of something.

"abandoned by wolves and

"abandoned by wolves and raised by grass." Jeremy that is awesome. You guys are awesome. And now I know what cognitive dissonance is.

The spiders actually look pretty cool. I like the style, like they're armored. They kind of remind me of the spider tanks from ghost in the shell.

Bless you all for watching 3 hours of this stuff for our amusement. Another great podcast. Good stuff.

Questions

Hey guys,

was wondering considering the weird and wonderful things you have been covering in the show lately how about a podcast on Starchaser: The Legend Of Orin, the best Star Wars ripoff ever? Or how about doing more Yamato? I know Jeremy hates the later movies but it would be hilarious listening especially after everyones reaction to Odin.

Keep it up. :)

I guess Zuey didn't learn

If you go at a kid with a tire iron, Judd Winnick will just bring him back to life and he'll grow up to become a psychopath who kills criminals.

BTW, I'm glad you're reading listener comments. I find it HILARIOUS that people came to this podcast expecting a) seriousness or b) everyone on the podcast to agree with any majority opinion. It's funny that people expect all podcasts to "behave," like all podcasts are like NPR or a news station.

I watched Spider Riders when it originally came out, so there! Get to ponying, crew!

Oh, and there are adults on 4chan? News to me!

I also caught an episode or two of Spider Riders when it came out, but all I remember about it is the main kid's goofy goggles and that kicking theme song.

It bugs me when cartoon characters have goggles but never actually put them over their eyes.

The theme song sent me on a youtube binge of watching bad American theme songs for bad Shonen anime. I had no idea that Nu Metal was so popular with little kids. In 2008.

But I think my favorite combination of ridiculous shonen and bad theme song is still Fighting Foodons. With that kind of craftsmanship, how did Saturday morning cartoons die out?

It's not a bad Shounen anime

It's not a bad Shounen anime at all, but the hip-hop One Piece opening music has to be the worst American theme song for an anime ever. 4Kids should have gone bankrupt on the day that song was finished.

...I thought it was an amazing opening, even when I was a die-hard 4KIDS RUINED ONE PIECEEEEEE fanboy (and to be honest aside from the cuts it's a decent dub, I prefer it to the the Funi dub >_>)

I don't even know what to say

I don't even know what to say to you. As much as I fight for hip-hop when people degrade it as an artform, that One Piece American OP, and many others that did the rap thing, is exponentially embarrassing as I get older.

As for the dub, I think the only voice that is understandable to be changed is Sanji. Otherwise, I thought all the other voices were OK. The Japanese actors are the best, though. Lots of great casting decisions there (except when they replaced the VA for Ivankov).

Oh well it's not like I think

Oh well it's not like I think it's a 'good' song in the slightest; it's more so prepostrous it totally rocks.

never give up

sorry so late to the party just started listenin a few days ago. my friend and i started watchin this after we listened to your show (which is good by the way). first off the theme song kicks a$$, especially if you play it at obscenely loud levels early in the mornin while your friends are tryin to sleep. the show is awesome in the fact that it is so bad. hunter steel may be the worst hero ever and i don't blame his spider for wanting to kill him, i would ask that you watch the episode (it's in the 20's somewhere) where you get to meet grasshops family and see his wife and kids berate him for not being a good provider. hi-larious! keep up the great work and remember like my uncle glenn said "with great arachno power comes alot of repeating the phrase never give up"

Stupid Canada laws wrought this

There are some stupid laws here in Canadaville where we have to have like 90% of all shows on tv at least partially produced in this country. It's a part of the ongoing "We're not like Americans at all, no really, we're not" pretense that we've been holding onto for the past however long. Really, we're like less obnoxious more apologetic Americans who are more politically correct to the point of stupidity.

Also we lack any real defining overall culture and instead rely on corrupted versions of our family's cultural heritage mixed and matched with whatever else we feel like identifying as that day. So faux bastardized 'family culture' and also the 'we're not American' thing kind of constitute culture here. I think we tend to drink and fight more than most Americans as well from what I can tell when I was living there for about 5 years.

Anyways, we got a load of this Japanadian s**t flooding in, and compared to some of the other crazy cartoons coming out this one was a lot more tolerable. Most of the interesting stuff that was from the States on the cartoon channels here was aired at like 2 in the morning and included Spawn the animated series, spy groove and undergrads etc.

(CDX Moderator Edit: Please no cursing on CDX comments section, thank you)
