One of my least favorite things about Transformers, specifically related to Wheeljack's techno-babble, is the inane use of meaningless jargon. Even as a kid, that bugged me. What the hell is a cosmotron? Sounds like an expensive machine that you rent for parties. Maybe it's Prime's smoke and laser machine. (Hey, I better cut this out. That's almost starting to make sense!)
Shockwave IS pretty useless in the series. He was the coolest toy of the 84-85 era, and yet they had him standing around on Cybertron, doing nothing.. Dr. Smoov did a pretty good spoof of that, which included bits of this episode..
At least the comics got a bit more use out of him. No wait. those sucked, too.
I agree that ridiculous jargon is one of my pet peeves about sci-fi. I also hate fake swear words.
Funny video! Yeah, that's about how I feel about Shockwave in the cartoon. He's Shockwave: Space Janitor.
I actually like the original Marvel comics. Yeah, they're for kids, but they're wacky and fun, unlike today's Transformers comics which are over-complicated and have no sense of humor, sadly.
Made up swear-words are a bunch of tanj, if you want my frellin' opinion.

Funny that you mentioned Shockwave sounding like David Warner, because David Warner is voicing Shockwave in TF3 .
Oh really? Cool. David Warner is exactly the right person to play Shockwave.
I think it's pretty obvious that Chip is an homage to the captain pike character from star trek. When are they going to make a chogokin chip figure?
I'm hoping some third party company will make a Chip figure to go with my ImpossibleToys Spike and Sparkplug. So I can pose Masterpiece Grimlock eating Chip.
