Nobody's ever truly disabled...

I have to remember not to be eating anything when this episode comes on, because I always laugh so hard. It's not just that Chip rips a disk in half. It's that he does it in the absolute most difficult way. Humans have herculean strength in this show. They can survive cave-ins after all.

I agree about the nosecones on the jets. They look really silly, but when I was a kid, I thought it looked cool. I still think they look kind of cool. It definitely gave the show a particular style that set it apart from everything else. If they could have kept the colors of the jets straight, the show would actually have aged quite nicely.

Interestingly enough, I noticed upon watching the Hub episodes that Skywarp and Thundercracker disappear a lot in later season 2 episodes, once the triple changers and cone heads started showing up. I think that was their solution to coloring mistakes.

And you're right, there really are only two seasons, but it's not really a DVD decision. It was definitely divided into four production seasons. (Well, five, if you consider the pilot was its own thing.) But when Transformers hit weekly syndication, they simply repackaged the sixteen episodes of season 1 and produced an additional 49, the minimum required to have 65 episodes. Thus, the combined order is basically one season in syndication. And when season 3 hit, they produced even less than that, repackaging select episodes from season 2. And I suspect that's why some episodes of season 2 have the theme song from season 3 in the opening animation.

To this day, I'm not even sure why season 4 exists.

And good lord, what IS that at the end? Is that a Malay dub of a season 1 episode? I thought they only did that with the Headmasters and later.

Seasons

Well, writers and other production staff on Transformers in interviews repeatedly state that there were only two seasons of the show but whatever, it's not a big deal.

Skywarp and Thundercracker disappearing in favor of the coneheads has nothing to do with coloring and everything to do with selling new toys.

Thing at the end is an old cheesy audio book!

...as long as they have COURAGE!

What you say about the interviews may be. I was going by production codes and what I remember about the air dates. There's a definite gap between the 1984 and 1985 seasons, before the movie.

About the jets, yeah, it about selling two toys, but the two characters who were the most problematic for animators were the first to go. They were still in the toy line at that point.

An audio book? That definitely makes more sense. But listen to the Malaysian dub some time for Headmasters, if you haven't already. It's on the DVD set. It's... jaw-dropping.
