The Worst Alright

I never saw this as a kid (probably because we didn't have the Disney Channel), but it was pretty horrible. Then again, my sisters always hated Transformers and I loved that to death.

Harry Potter

Yeah, I have never read or seen Harry Potter, but it really does seem like the same concept only Harry Potter has boy students.

Like "2001: A Space

Like "2001: A Space Odyssey", the books explain a lot of the material in greater detail. I find them to be a good read, though I don't overindulge in them.

If you read the books first, you'll see what heresy the movies are. If it were up to me, I would have made them high-quality/budget live-action made-for-TV miniseries for each book. That way, you could expand beyond 2hrs and take the time to explain all the ins-and-outs of this rich Star Wars-like world. (I.e- Star Wars is an amazing universe... it's just a genuine shame more than half of the movie suck.)

Low?

So I take it you haven't seen the third Addam's Family movie? It was direct to video. Tim Curry took over the dead Raul Julia's role as Gomez Addams. Pretty sad.

No, I didn't.

For the most-part, I know him as a voice-actor.

Peter Pan & The Pirates

Actually Jeremy, I reccomend YouTube watching Peter Pan & The Pirates, a G1 Fox Kids 1990 cartoon.

This is where Tim Curry plays Captain Hook & his magnificent voice brought Neverland to chaos. Like his crew of scaliwags, he made all the never-folks grow up including his archnemesis and that's brutal but awesome.

His Capt. Hook performance was awesome enough to make Disney & Steven Spielbooger to look like maggots.

Ohh, spot-on, R78!

Ohh, spot-on, R78!

You guys talk about coming home after school to "Robotech", "Voltron", "The Transformers", and many others with nostalgia.
Well, "Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates" was what I came home to after school. That show was awesome! For me it was that, "Silverhawks" (barely remember it, but I still have a near-complete 1/1-scale Tally Hawk hanging in my closet!), "Batman: The Animated Series", "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (in weekly syndication), "Power Rangers", and "Beast Wars: Transformers" that I look on with great nostalgia.

Oooh EVA

Oooh EVA,

you had Silverhawks toys? awesome! I never had the giant Tally Hawk or the Sky Shadow, but I did had Quicksilver & Hot Wing.

Sadly, they didn't had die-cast parts like the Bionic Six had, but their bodies had all that shiny chrome paint that makes it worth while.

Anyway, yes Tim Curry stole the show in that cartoon. Peter Pan was the only Fox cartoon that I cared about because of Mr. Curry ... well that and Dark Water (the mini-series) & Batman: TAS but that came about in the 2nd wave of Fox toons. Didn't care about Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: TAS, Zazoo U., & Bobby's World....

Definitely Bobby's World...just got no love for Howie Mandel.

Yep, I still got Tally Hawk,

Yep, I still got Tally Hawk, right here:

[G2:491781 class=g2image_centered]

The missile launcher in the mouth is still defective after all these decades (the missile won't stay locked and always fires without triggering it). Aside from some minor discoloration on his back, he's more-or-less the same, with all functional features. (I may cover him someday for CDX, if someone doesn't beat me to the punch...)

Not remembering a damned thing about the show anymore (am I supposed to?), I also had the Quicksilver, Copper Kidd, Hotwing, Bluegrass, Commander Stargazer, Mon*Star, Mo-Lec-U-Lar, and Mumbo Jumbo; all in in various states of disrepair and conditioning. I think I still have them all, though they are not as accessible at this time.
I always wanted Bluegrass' ship, the Miraj, but every time we went to the store to get it, it was always sold out. Tears flowed freely the day I was told in-store that they were sold-out for good.

. . .

I watched little of "Bobby's World", as I had no strong interest in it.

Heh- my dad woke me up late one night to watch an episode of dubbed-parody "Dynaman"! (I was too tired to remember it later, dang-it-all!)
But he and I regularly watched "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future", which had really early CGI-on-TV stuff. (I really wanted that white fighter- the Powerjet XT-7- that interacted directly with the TV, dammit!)

I would have watched "Disney's The Little Mermaid" series at the time had I known it was on (another regular performance by Curry, BTW), as I really enjoy[ed] the movie.

Wow

I encourage you to review Silverhawks one day. They're tales worth telling.

I never realized Tally Hawk was so big. Kenner should've done something bold with further by making the toy as a starfighter with Quicksilver flying inside of Tally Hawk's cockpit. It's interesting to note the front edge of the wings are jagged.

Mo-Le-Cu-Lar, Buzzsaw, Mumbo Jumbo, & Hardware were my favorite henchmen...especially Poker-Face.I never owned Mon-Star & The Galactic Mob because Roses' Stores never had them available, so I made them on my own out of notebook paper. I did the same thing with Mazinger Z.

There never was a Peter Pan & The Pirates toyline, so I made my own Captain Hook action figure with Tim Curry's face out of paper mache, paint, & cardboard. I no longer have them anymore because they were have aged poorly. Someday I will rebuild them when I have spare time.

It's fun to make your own toys.

Under the tail are two

Under the tail are two switches:

The first one fires the missile out of the mouth by opening the jaw and turning the eyes red (decals covered by clear plastic).
The other unhooks both wings, and they swing forward scissor-fashion with a snap! The idea with the wings is that they could capture villain characters between them.

You can also see the orange buttons on the front of the thighs in that pic. When depressed, each would open the spring-close talons, which could either hold more figures... or you could have him attach to your forearm like a real bird! (The talons barely fit over even a kid's arm, and the grip wasn't tight enough to prevent it from tipping over first chance it got.)

. . .

"It's fun to make your own toys."

You do know you're preaching to a LEGO Maniac here, right...?

I made several transformable Megazords before I bought them. I entered a custom-built LEGO Ninja Megazord into our local county fair one year... and it was stolen before I could return to fetch it! There were some really valuable parts in that MOC... (A transformable GUNHED was my favorite to rebuild every few months. I even attempted a transformable VF-1S Super Valkyrie before I got my TT 1/55!)

. . .

Oh- I should mention that I had several "StarCom" sets too, though I didn't know they were based on a TV series until years later! I still have them, though they all have missing/broken parts, and all have peeling decals. My friend had more of them, including some European versions (his family was British), and I tried to get them off of him, but it never happened.
