In the beginning of June 2003 I found myself in Tokyo for 7 days. I had a book all made up of Japanese toy stores, and I had money to burn. All of the shops I went to were really great, but it got to be overwhelming. Who would have thought you could see too many toy stores?

Toy Shopping in New York City

In January of 2004, I made a road trip to New York City for some toy shopping. We hit most of the major stores, and found a couple of hidden treasures. Overall I found a wide assortment of toys, but the prices were usually more expensive than through an on-line retailer, or through ebay. Still, seeing these toys in person can make up for the extra expense.

toybot studios meets CollectionDX

I was planning my trip to Boston where I was attending a conference for work. I usually like to try and do a bit of research to see if there are any interesting Japanese toy stores in the cities i'm visiting. Nothing is cooler than visiting Japanese toy stores in other cities. I knew that Josh Bernard from CollectionDX lived in Boston so I dropped him a note asking if he would refer me to a couple of cool local stores (if any existed).
