Turns out I had a lot of fun doing it, and I actually ran out and got another couple of blank figures to work on my next pieces.

What happened to CDX?

Yeah, OK, CDX was down a lot over the weekend. I never could nail down what the problem was, but it appears a temp directory that our image gallery writes to had exploded to 80gb in size. In the process of troubleshooting that I went in and added more Ram, and a PHP accelerator, so you should notice a huge improvement in speed.
Next week we're running a skeleton staff at CDX. I'll be on Vacation, with no internet, and Dan, Adam and Jeremy will be at San Diego Comic-Con. Look for a special announcement regarding that soon.
Speaking of Jeremy, I guest-hosted on Destroy All Podcasts DX. We talked about Takeshi Kitano's film "Getting Any". It was a lot of fun, so please check it out.
Thats about all.. Talk to you soon..

Quick announcements

On May 23rd, 2009, Funimation announced the official casting for its English dubbing of the first of the Rebuild of Evangelion films, "Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone"

On May 23rd, 2009, Funimation announced the official casting for its English dubbing of the first of the Rebuild of Evangelion films, "Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone" (2007):

Shinji Ikari - Spike Spencer

Misato Katsuragi - Allison Keith-Shipp

Ritsuko Akagi - Colleen Clinkenbeard

Maya Ibuki - Catlin Glass

Gendou Ikari - John Swasey

Rei Ayanami - Brina Palencia

Makoto Hyuga, EVA - Mike McFarland

Koto Fuyutski - Kent Williams

Kensuke Aida - Greg Ayers

Toji Suzuhara - Justin Cook

Shigeru Aoba - Phil Parsons

Kiel Lorenze - Bill Jenkins

Hikari Horaiki - Leah Cook

Kaworu Nagisa - Jerry Jewell

Yui Ikari - Stephanie Young

Pen-Pen - Monica Rial

For those of you keeping count, though actress Amanda Wynn-Lee expressed earlier consistent interest in reprising Rei Ayanami, only Spike Spencer and Allison Keith-Shipp are returning from ADV Film's dub of the original '95-96 TV series. John Swasey, Monica Rial, and Greg Ayers performed replacement voices (Gendou Ikari, Maya Ibuki, and Kaworu Nagisa respectively) for ADV's Director's Cut, but the latter-two are playing different characters for Rebuild...

(Keith did not appear in Manga Entertainment's dubs for the sequel films, "Evangelion Death and Rebirth" and "The End of Evangelion", thus making Spencer the only consistent voice [thus far] for a single character in English dubbing. Ironically, all of the original Japanese seiyu voices returned for Rebuild of Evangelion.)

Shortly thereafter, the official dub trailer (see link below) was released on the film's English site, www.Funimation.com/Evangelion.

Um...why Spencer again??? I have always said his Eva-dub was the worst-sounding of them all! It's not that his performance was bad (and I haven't heard him anywhere else, so nothing against him for those performances), but it was just that he never sounded like a depress 14yr-old kid is all, too nasal.
I am pleased, though, that Keith-Shipp is returning. Her voice was, I thought, the closest to Misato's seiyu, Kotono Mitsuishi.
While I really enjoyed Tristan MacAvery's interpretation of Gendou Ikari with the deeper voice, I haven't had a chance to view the Director's Cut ver. with John Swasey (the latter is reprising the character for Rebuild...), so I have no opinion there yet.
And as for replacing Wynn-Lee with another, it's kinda hard to say since Rei doesn't say much anyways, and she's almost whisper-quiet when she does. My opinion there, as well, is on hold.

I can't understand why it is I'm getting no feedback on this, but I might as well bring it up since I'm still interested in it...

"Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight" is finally getting a little respect from 4Kids TV/The CW4Kids, and has been moved to an hour-earlier time slot (10:30) on Saturday mornings; something that I had hoped for since it was good enough not to bunch it up against noontime crap that could potentially preempt it.

Unfortunately, I still cannot give you official Nielsen ratings on how well it is doing since I don't know where to look for them myself! While I think it's still a good show, can someone please tell me how it's really doing, and if there is the possibility of more Kamen Rider series coming over!?

. . .

Be assured, however, that I will be covering several toys from Bandai America's line-up, mostly related to Kamen Rider Torque 'cause I like him a lot. These should be in stores anytime now...

 Oh, that reminds me...

On 4Kids TV's homepage is a link to a section called Papercraft, where you can select, print-out, cut, and build your 'favorite characters' from their TV line-up. As of this posting, they now have four non-poseable figures from "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight"-

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight

Kamen Rider Wing Knight

Kamen Rider Torque

Kamen Rider Strike

Guess which one I'm gonna build...? ^_^

The economy may suck, but we've improved on our Marmit / Kaiju Big Battel collaboration with even LOWER prices for MORE figure.

It was one of those odd discoveries. The way the arms are sculpted on Vegetius enables you to add a second set of arms, giving it jointed elbows and a better appearance. One of the cheif complaints of the character was that the arms looked short and stubby. But NO MORE! Vegetius now has longer arms.

THIS GUY!

Quantities are limited to 10 peices on this version, so act fast. Basically, I've taken the arms off of the defect ones and are adding them to the existing limited stock.

And here's the best part - a new LOWER price. That's right, you get MORE toy for LESS money.

2009 - Yay for new President, new toys!

Man, 2009 is starting off with a Bang! First we get an awesome new President, one Mr. Barak Obama (who is a bit of a geek), and also we have a great new batch of toys coming up soon on cdx, including the Beagle Mospeada, TWO Macross Fronteir Valks, the new Yamato Destroid, and even the Respect for Volt in Box.
We're also very excited for Toy Fair this year, although all indications point to a much scaled back event. Still, we get to go to NYC for a few days. If you want to get together with us, let us know! We'll be hitting the usual haunts - chinatown, Toy Tokyo, Image Anime and more...
Anime.CollectionDX.com is doing well, but the extra workload is killing us right now. We primarily need help with news. If you are interested in being part of the CDX family, let me know. We can't pay, but there are perks!
Thanks!

As CollectionDX enters the new year we bring you a new site! - Anime.CollectionDX.com

A while back we had a poll asking you about how you, the CDX reader, felt about anime figures on CDX. While a majority of you supported it, the staff felt that while the coverage was needed, it wasn't appropriate for the main CDX page.

These past few months we've been toiling hard to bring you our latest effort - Anime.CollectionDX.com

Anime.CollectionDX.com will cover the world of anime figures, and will also include anime reviews and news. The site is new and we are still adding content, but we will be covering almost the full spectrum of anime figures, including:

Fixed pose plastic and resin figures

Articulated figures like Revoltech Fraulein and Figma

1/6 scale figures and more.

The new site is tightly integrated with the current CollectionDX site. Your username and login are the same, and your profile and icon are the same between both sites. Even your collection gallery is the same. If you are a member of CDX you are member of A.CDX.

So please, go check out the new site and let us know what you think. And if you want to get involved, we are looking for writers to expand our ever growing family.

Thanks again for all your support!

Following the sold-out "Gore Version Sky Deviler" CollectionDX is proud to announce our latest exclusive toy - the Nor'easter ver. Vegetius!

Vegetius stands 12 inches tall and is made out of translucent blue glitter soft vinyl. Made in Japan by the master craftsmen at Marmit, Vegetius has 5 points of articulation and is limited to 50 pieces.

From the Kaiju Big Battel website:

"Vegetius is being most beast-like creature of Big Battel. No man and no monster can cantrolling giant bird-turtle when lunchtime is the nearing. Foraging for the roots of deliciousness is activity number one in forest and jungle home places. Stand by the side for Vegetius and friend counted, but stopping the will of pointy headed one and shell pain he brings!"

uhh, yeah.

This color scheme is meant to evoke the harsh, cold winter of the New England region, home to both CollectionDX and Kaiju Big Battel.

Vegetius is due to ship late 2008 (exact date TBD) and will come bagged with a header card designed by JoshB.

Head on over to the CDX store to place your order today!
