In the first part, we talk a bit about the history of Jumbos, and what exactly, qualifies as a Jumbo and why. In the second part we have an exclusive interview with Frank Supiot of Super7 featuring the Super Shogun Jumbo Stormtrooper!
In other news, this video is our 500th video on YouTube!

16 comments postedI was on the fence about this one, but you guys inspired me to go for it, order placed !
I can't watch it though. The V-3 Jumbo causes me unimaginable amounts of lust and heartache.
But anyway, is there a hard ship date for the Stormtrooper yet? Real jealous that you guys got an early peek.
I'm very curious about the one comment that the super 7 guy made about how paint doesn't stick to polyethylene. I have mattel's godzilla jumbo sitting in my closet, waiting until sunday, my birthday, to be opened. I have big plans to customize it, which includes painting. I was going to use matt walker's monster kolor, which has a polyurethane base, but now I guess it remains to be seen whether the stuff will actually work!
I was born in 1984, and never saw nor heard of jumbo machinders until recently. I think they're some of the coolest toys ever made, and picked up two of popy's accessory arms and a daimos upper arm (sanjeev's idea to use the upper arm) in anticipation of a major godzilla overhaul.
I'm really glad that you guys did this. It's awesome to see so many machinders in one room, particularly the kaiju turtle.
Alas, it's true. Jumbos (well, really, polyethylene) is notoriously hard to paint. Sure, it can go on nice and smooth, but most types of paints bubble and flake off after a short while.
Now, Monster Kolor is a whole other animal from "typical" paints. When Walker and I get the chance, we've actually got a battery of tests we're planning for Jumbos. I'm skeptical but open-minded. Walker's convinced his paints will stick...as long as his topcoats are used. That stuff is rock-solid, so we'll see!
Anyway, for the record, I wasn't bored during the filming! Hahaha...someone mentioned I had a very uninterested look throughout the show, but honestly, I was just mad comfortable and had had a LONG day! :P

Floquil Railroad Lacquer might also work. I had to paint the treads on the Bandai Guntank 1/144 model kit from 1980 and no paint stuck to that plastic. Floquil railroad Lacquer paint has a chemical reaction with plastic that etches itself into the plastic. Its brutal stuff! No wonder railroad collectors are crazy!
but beware, make sure you buy from the tall bottle that says Lacquer as Testors makes a Floquil acrylics in small bottles that has no relation to the lacquer.

Also, the main reason I'm not getting the stormtrooper is that I'm not fond enough of the essential stormtrooper design. The toy itself is great, but I'm not in. If they did a zuckuss, muftak, or (ESPECIALLY) ackbar, I'd be in.
Very cool to see all those jumbos and get some background on them. Im not really a jumbo collector myself, but it was awesome to get another episode of Some Assembly Required again. Great stuff.
Right on my birthday? That's pretty radtacular.
As a kid growing up in the 70's I had several of those Shogun Warriors, including Rodan to fight my beloved Godzilla. That is a great idea to make one as a Stormtrooper. But listening to you guys talk about Zuckuss and Ackbar I kept yelling at the computer "BOBBA FETT!!! How could you guys not mention him!"
Talk about goodies shooting from everywhere! My vote would be for a Bobba with a rocket firing jet back!
The Spice must flow.
Well this is WAAAY out of my price range... that being said the toy is pretty cool! Hope this line takes off, there's a lot of cool dudes they can make from this. :)b
amen..., but if gaogaigar/gaofaigar receives this treatment then... screw the wallet
Just got an email from S7 saying the trooper's in the mail. That was a lot quicker than I expected.
Really?
I just checked the site, and it still says over 22 days...
June 12th can't come soon enough... ;)

Okay, that's totally bizarre. I have no idea then. The email says "Order shipped on 5/19/2010 via United States Postal Service - Priority Mail", and that's the only thing I've bought from Super7. I don't actually have a S7 account, so I can't log in to check what they sent me. Maybe the email's a mistake? Well, it's priority mail, so I should be finding out soon enough.
