I briefly met with Geoff Beckett, President of Shocker Toys at this years San Diego Comic-Con.
Geoff showed me his upcoming Indie Spotlight line of action figures. All of the figures shown were painted prototypes, 6 inches in height and have full articulation. Some of the highlights of the Indie Spotlight line-up are: SCUD, the Phantom, Dick Tracy, Shadowhawk, Katchoo and my personal favorite, The Maxx figure.
As you can see from the photo’s, Shocker toys have come a long way from last years SDCC07 promotional resin Metalocalypse figures. If the final products look anything like the prototypes I saw, the fans will definitely be in for a treat.
From this small sampling, it really looks as though Shocker Toys is going to be a true competitor in this niche market. I look forward to receiving the first wave of figures and personally reviewing them for the fans.

page 2 is where the CDX review was mentioned. The original posts were pretty ridiculous behavior, and you can see in what people quoted that the Shocker employee was very much out of line.
Sad, because I ave an irrational love for THE MAXX and anything Sam Kieth does.
xiombarg ...it really is one of the folks from Shocker Toys, and it really is Robert Kirkman. Kirkman posts about once a month, and participates every once in a while. C'mon, man, why would I put anything forward like that that I wasn't 100% on? Who would really want to post false stuff under "Shocker Toys" anyway? And apparently Shocker's done the same thing in other forums as well... but I couldn't find anything "real" out there about it (they took down their own forum for a while)...
I hate to say bad things about a small indie company with some fun licenses, trying to give fans fun toys to collect, but when you behave like a jerk on the internet, AND put out bad product, AND behind-the-back style insult CDX for an honest review... that has to be called out.
I mean, THE TICK, GRENDEL, DICK TRACY, THE MAXX... these are all series that i've had serious obsessions with over the years. It's a difficult decision that will have to of course wait when product actually hits the shelves.
As the dude responsible for the SDCC07 Metalocalypse "statues", I gotta say, they were horrendous. That's honest opinion right there. The guy on that thread posting on behalf of Shocker Toys was actually Geoff Beckett, their president, himself. Take it for what you will...but despite the revulsion I felt towards those Metalocalypse figures, I actually hope their new figures turn out slamming. No, I didn't pick up the new Metalocalypse set at Comic-Con, but I'm praying to the toy gods their Indy series is hot.
I mean, c'mon--I'm no hater. I want good toys of these characters...especially the Tick. I grew up one town over from Quincy, MA, where Ben Edlund first penned The Tick for New England Comics.
So, what's there to be gained from more terrible toys on the market?? I hope the new figures kill...and I'd be more than happy to post an honest, positive review for Shocker.
