Many of you, like myself, know Go Hero for their Vinyl Mechabot series of toys. They released a few different vinyls before radically shifting gears with the announcement of their Buck Rogers license. No this is not the hairy-chested Buck Rogers from the 80s, this is from the classic films that premiered almost 80 years ago.
The 1/6 Scale Buck Rogers figures feature an all new 1/6 scale body created by Go Hero. The accessories will be a vareity of media, and each figure will feature a sound chip that can play mp3 files of classic Buck Rogers radio shows (or whatever you decide to load onto it).
Also announced was the Ray Harryhausen 1/6 scale Sinbad w/ Homunculus and Perseus w/ Bubo. Apparently Harryhausen had written sequels for all of his films and now Go Hero is making toys for them.
It looks like there are big things in store for Go Hero. But what about the robots?
I talked to Go Hero owner Steve Forde, and he said that the idea is that proceeds from more profitable ventures would help fund new Vinyl creations, and maybe even some diecast.....

6 comments postedso psyched for these... the buck rogers figure looks awesome, as do the flash gordon minis shown too... i loved their vinyl figures, and i'll gladly shell out on Buck and the other classic sci-fi stuff, if it'll help make more vinyl or die-cast!!!
Wow, as a big fan of OTR (that's "old time radio", for the uninitiated) I think that is a really neat idea to be able to play those old shows right from your action figure! I think I mentioned in a few of my 12" doll reviews how some just cry out to have sound. Glad to see someone moving in that direction.

Ray Harryhausen is not dead in the least, he just did a signing in California not too, too long ago.
Uh, whoops.

Yes! Mr Harryhausen was at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica a few months ago at the screenings of his films. He did a question answer with the audience and did some signing. He was also interviewed by George Noory's radio show "Coast To Coast" about a year ago.
Those black and white figures are great...I love when they do that!
looks like a great company!

We'll fight them on the Beaches!
Go Hero IS a great company. Steve Forde is a stand-up guy, and really passionate about his product and "getting it right". I'm a little biased, as we're friends, but that friendship developed from meeting and bonding over issues of taste and integrity. I will say that these are some lovely figures, and there's some greatness in store.
