Full disclaimer here, I pretty much hate Dragonball. Can't stand it at all. Never got into the character designs or the story, but I do understand that a lot of people like it for some reason. So naturally, I probably won't like the movie either.
That being said, Bandai had the line on display, and they didn't look too bad, and they had some cool ideas packed with them. First off is the main 3 3/4" line. Each character is super-articulated and comes with a Dragonball, base section, and build a figure part. The BAF is Oozaru.
There is also a larger line of 6" figures that have an interesting ripcord action when you pull the cord, some kind of action feature happens - like a karate chop or a kick.

YUCK!!!!!! I don't care if anybody hates me for saying this,
but this is just stupid and humiliating just like last year's Speed Racer. I'm not liking what I'm seeing. Big pass for me.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way!
Seriously though, you'd figure Bandai would know better. I know this is targeted towards a younger audience, but still...at least make your figures look....presentable.
A younger audience aye? That doesn't even come close to the kind of demographic this fad panders to. The kind of audience that they're pandering to are the ones who have no frame of historical reference none whatsoever, so it's easy to hook, line, and sinker. It's the 'cult of ignorance' that they're rolling the dice on the table, and that pretty much sums it all up right there. Man, you've just got to love the irony here when it comes to feeding soylent beans to a blindly public from a US company that don't know what the hell they're doing.
PS: Even if you're the one that feels that way, that doesn't mean you're a leper, it means that you're a rebel. That's all part of being an individual. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Just ask DAP-DX.

and turns out the toys worse than the movie!
Wow...so, interestingly enough, this is my first exposure to the very fact that a live-action Dragon Ball Z movie is being made!
Mwahaahahahaha!
Oh, yeah! Look for me in line at the box office!!! :P
And, yes, these toys look possibly worse than the movie (of which, I just saw the trailer). I don't know what saddens me more: the presence of Chow Yun-Fat in this..."film"...or the fact that a white guy is playing a Japanese character...who's an interpretation of one of the greatest Chinese folktales (Journey to the West). All I know is that I'm truly and deeply saddened.

Wow,I'm glad I'm not a DBZ fan. People are bitching about Cobra Commander having a different mask, and a couple years ago people were bitching about Optimus Prime having a mouth, but judging from this trailer, even the 98 Godzilla movie is more accurate to the source material than Dragon Ball Z Evolution. If you saw the majority of the scenes in the trailer out of context, and someone asked you what they were a live action version of,there is NO WAY you would guess DBZ. And this is coming from myself, who has only seen maybe 2 episodes of the damn show.
Not to mention, even the "Fast and The Furious"-watching neanderthals they're aiming this at will think it's a f*****g joke. It looks like the video clips from one of those old Sega CD games.
yamcha yello hair? goku a white guy?(well he really doesnt look asian in the anime either) but damn that oozaru is a pretty blue.
It hurts. This "movie" is a slap in the face to every fan of DBZ or japanese culture in general. That thing is awfull. Plain and simple. And the toy seems even worst. Nothing good will come out of this.
"Awww man, that's one ugly zord..." Tommy about BA Drivemax Megazord.
The Speed Racer was so bad it was good, but I don't predict the same success with this.
The Japanese must think we're crazy.
